When I do my client's hair I put two things around the neck.
The first thing I put around the neck is a ';Sanek strip.'; This looks like a white strip of toilet paper. lol. It's used to provide a barrier between the client's skin and the cape, so that when you put the cape on the next person's neck, it minimizes germ-sharing.
The second thing I put on is the cape. It protects the client from getting wet during the shampoo and from getting color on clothes if they are getting that service.
