Is it a percentage or a fixed amount? Thanks for any advice. How much do I tip my hairdresser?
You can tip a percentage or a fixed amount. If you go to one of those inexpensive places in the mall where a men's haircut is like 15 bucks, then a fixed amount like $3 is ok. If you go to a more expensive place, where a men's cut is $30 and up, 20-25% usually seems to be the norm. Oh, and if someone other than the hairstylist washes your hair, you have to tip that person a dollar or two as well. How much do I tip my hairdresser?
about 15-20%
Alex B is cheap. You're supposed to tip 20%. I know this because i am a hairdresser. We count on tips as part of our wages. And for return customers, bigger tips equals better service.
If your hairdresser [an employee] gets paid by the hour, they don't get a tip, nor does the owner. The money they make and own doesn' require a tip, their wages are their tip. They have to do a good job on your hair, that's what they gey hired to do and get paid for?
Depending on how much you like the style.
i didn't know you were supposed to tip!
I think it's supposed to be 15% -- just like tipping in a restaurant. I think that's high. I usually go 10%. Most people I know only tip a dollar or two, no matter what they have done.
GIVE AT LEAST 20% OF YOUR TOTAL COST...HAIRDRESSER ARE USUALLY COMPENSATED THROUGH PERCENTAGE OF THEIR TOTAL SERVICE COST FOR THE DAY...USUALLY 20 - 25%
GIVING THEM EXTRA AMOUNT IS A GOOD THANK YOU AND EVENTUALLY THE NEXT TIME YOU VISIT THE HAIRDRESSER HE WILL GIVE YOU BACK THE TIP YOU GAVE HIM, THROUGH EXTRA SERVICE LIKE MASSAGE OR HE WILL BE MORE COURTEOUS TO YOU LET YOU FEEL YOURE HIS V.I.P
A fixed amount is fine such as two to three dollars, especially if you use the same one and have a standing appointment. Additionally, at Christmas you should tip exactly double what you normally pay. For instance, if your cut normally cost $12.00, you would add the tip, then double the total amount.
I usually give 10%, because that the easiest way to calculate!
