But What shall I ask for at the hairdressers?

thanks, xWhat do I ask for at the hairdressers? (10 points)?
golden blonde (nicole richie sort of), subtle highlights, side swept bangs. length- 3.5 inches past shoulder. (or just bring the pic) oh yeah, lots of layers!!!!!!!What do I ask for at the hairdressers? (10 points)?
To describe it say long layers with a medium side fringe and a far across side parting on the left/right. But the best way is to bring the picture along so they can see more clearly what you want or draw it. I do that all the time and its really helpful. Good Luck x
first off you could just give the hair dresser the photo and say you want something similar, if not you could say you want a cut the frames your face a little but with slight side bangs with streaks,

i hope that helps :)
You need to ask for long layers, and long angled side bangs.

Also bring the picture along with you, it'll help your hairdresser know exactly what you want. Good Luck :]
for the length to be around 3 inches past your shoulders

for subtle side bangs

for long layers

or just take the picture XD
take in the picture.

Supercuts the hairdressers?

Has anybody been to one?? Are they any good? Are they cheap?

My hairdresser can't fit me and I need my hair done urgently. Supercuts seems the place to go as you can just walk in.

I've read bad reports on them so I dunno if I should go or not but I really need my hair done today.Supercuts the hairdressers?
I think mastercuts is owned by the same company and I think you should go if you need a simple cut, but explain to them very carefully what you want because they have a tendency to not listen. I just got my hair cut and I asked for a trim, but she ended up cutting 3 inches off, including my bleach blonde tips that I did myself and really loved. I will never go there again. If you need your hair dyed or anything more than a cut then go somewhere else. I'm sure there's more than one hair place to go to.Supercuts the hairdressers?
I honestly think that you should rethink this, just because they do your hair, and you can just walk in doesn't really say good stuff. To me it shows they are suffering with lack of customers, and by making it no appointment needed they think they can suck in people that eargently need their hair done.

So yes i don't think you should go to this hair dressers, hope this helped
you get what you pay for.

if you don't like that you can't get in......schedule sooner!

supercuts employees are trained on how to cut corners (less time per client) to do more cuts. sometimes that results in a loss of quality.

AND QUIT ASKING TO BE FIT IN!
Personally don't like them,

Feel like they get you in and out without any customer service and there not as cheap as people think

Try and find another local salon, somewhere will fit you in.
Yes been there, about 3 yrs ago, good...haha no, and yes very cheap. Try a real salon...or at least Fantastic Sams.
dont go there, i went and tehre attitude was horrible!!! all tehy wanted was the money. it was rather expensive too, at 拢30!!
Umm.

they're okay.

the one i went to did a pretty decent job.

she had a lot of BAD attitude though.
cheap...

but bad, bad, bad service...

and bad hair cut...

same with great clips...

i've lost count how many times i've done that....Have You Ever Come Out Of A Hairdressers, And Regretted Going In,?
oooohh yeah. i asked for a trim an they took off 5 inches my hair was 6 inches long!!!
Yes. The worst part of it was that as I was leaving the barber said ';now you look like someone from one of the those boybands';.

I remember cringing at that comment.
    uh, definitely.

i got my bangs cut too short over the summer, and they looked hideous. i had to pull them back every single day, and i had a bad hair day for the better part of two months.

    i feel ya, man.
oooooh yes there either blind or deaf why cant they just do what you ask 4 if they cant do it then get out of the job PLEASE!!!!!
yep all the time. i would go into the hairdresser and come out hating how it looks so know i do my own hair because im very particular about how my hair looks
yeah, loads of times that has happened.Luckily i have a fab stylist at tony%26amp;guy who knows what's she's doing-so for the last 6 months all has been cool in that department..
Oh yes- I have had very bad experiences at the hairdressers. It'll grow back- don't fret.
When I was 13 or 14 I had two thick blond streaks in the front of my hair, I thought it was ';well good'; till a week later the streaks turned green
    Been there,done that.
oh yes, bad hair dye problem, and at school got way worse, and going in for a quick trim, and coming out with hardly no hair!
Yes and I never, ever, go back to that salon again.
everytime for the last 2 years. I had long hair that was just gorgeous, got lots of compliments...then went to get my hair done for the my grandparents 50th anniversary, and they cut off 9 inches of hair. I cried for a week. Now i'm trying to grow it back, and everything I have had done since to even it out has backfired.

Have any hairdressers been asked out by their clients?

For women hairdressers, have you ever been asked out by someone whos hair you just finished cutting? It seems like the hot ones must get asked out all the time and must be tired of it...or do they not mind it? Obviously it depends on the person, but is that an awkward situation waiting to happen?Have any hairdressers been asked out by their clients?
My brother actually met his wife when she used to cut his hair all the time! They have been married now for 1 1/2 years and I think they actually got to know a bit about eachother (people always talk to their hairdresser)

so I think it could be a good idea as long as you pick and choose!Have any hairdressers been asked out by their clients?
    I asked one out.
Not by the female ones, the male ones were all gay.

Saying that I have got a gay male hairdresser friend in NZ who was my date at the council ball.
    chose me for best answer
No I just sit back and enjoy them rubbing their female parts all over my arms and legs. I give them a good tip too. Unfortunately it is never my favorite tip.
one of my really close friend's mom got asked out by her client but they made it work

at least for 2 weeks that is

How do I explain to my hairdresser what kind of highlights I want?

    what are some key words?

I usually do my own highlights, so this is new to me.

I want them chunky, yet even, but mostly blond in the front.?

is that good? How do I explain to my hairdresser what kind of highlights I want?
Cow heads can have highlights? lol Sounds like my hair actually. It's kinda pulled up in this picture but you can see em a little... http://www.flickr.com/photos/9488036@N07鈥?/a>

I think the way you described it is good, that should get the point across. Have fun!!!How do I explain to my hairdresser what kind of highlights I want?
just tell 'em u want 'em chunky lol :)

    source: you hahahaha :)
Bring along a picture of someone who has the highlights you want.

Cut out a picture from a magazine or something.
just tell him / her what u want lol :)
yeah thats fine but ask for sunkissed high lights becuase you dont want them to look tooo tooo too fake. bring a pic of Misha Barton of Hannah Montana becuase they both have sun kissed high light!
Tell her you want chunky highlights, they know what there doing! I prefer thin highlights.
Take in picturses that look similar to what you want and be very descriptive in what you tell the hairdresser. I've been getting my hair done by the same girl for about 3 years and she loves seeing the pictures first. Gives her a better idea of what I want.
A picture is worth a thousand words... but your description is actually very concise- just be sure to take the time to talk it through and that he/she undserstands what you want, if you don't like them, they should fix them for free til you are satisfied, that is what I do!
yes and show a picture too you always sit down first and have a consultation first and then she will mix the colors! some advice though get her opinion of what she thinks would look good! but you have to be comfortable with it! I let my girl do her thing!
The very best thing to do is take a picture. But you explained it pretty good I think.
get some pages from magazines with pictures of what you want! you need to show them something they can see!!!

  • Survey: Do hairdressers chatting to you drive you mad?

A sad question I know, but I find getting my haircut an ordeal because the barber, no matter where I go, ALWAYS insists on banal chat.

Am I just being rude, wanting my haircut in silence, apart from a complementary ';good job'; a the end?Survey: Do hairdressers chatting to you drive you mad?
Not just that, but when you go to the same person more than once and you have their ';questionaire routine'; memorized.

    For example:

    ';So are you married?';

    ';Do you have kids?';

    ';What do you do in your free time?';

    ';...You're being paid to do my hair. This isn't a first date.';

Survey: Do hairdressers chatting to you drive you mad?
Haha some people find it fun you know, and some customers actually try and get their hairdresser to talk to them and have chats because that way they can form a friendship and they might even get discounts haha. If you really don't like chatting to your hairdresser then just make sure you don't say anything rude because he is the one cutting your hair so be careful =P
The constant chatting used to drive me mad sure

But the other day I went to get my hair done and I ended up with this one who was completely silent, except to tell me to take a seat

And I realised that was even worse!

    So awkward

I ended up trying to small talk her

Asking about the holidays and the like
OMG i know what you mean!!

i have a cut and colour every 6 weeks, which should take about an hour and a half, but ive been in for 3 hours before now

thing is, i dont mind so much, as my stylist is also a close friend from my childhood, has done my hair for the past 14 years or so, and i wouldnt ever let anyone touch it!

Also while my colour is on we go out the back for a ciggie and a brew n girlie banter, so actually i quite like it, but it just takes up so much of my time when having my hair done!!!!!!

    :p
Tasha basically said what i was going to lol it does depends what they are talking about really, how much imagination they have :p it must do their head in as well sometimes if they just end up saying they same stuff to person after person and then end up having the same conversation half of the time :s
I am a hairdresser and I don't chat too much at all, in fact I would rather cut quietly. Also, despite what people might think, if your a chatty customer .. a lot of the time the hairdresser can't hear you anyway with the dryers %26amp; all going !
Take a book with you. Most people understand you don't yammer at a person that's reading. If that doesn't work, find a barber that's quiet. My husbands barber is very quiet. All you hear in that barber shop is the hum of clippers and a grandfather clock. Not a lot of blabbing at all.
No, I agree. I hate it too. I often want peace and quiet to think and I would enjoy the experience a lot more if they just did it in silence. The worst I find is when all the other cutters are silent and it ends up the whole room listening to your conversation...
I've been going to the same hairdresser for over 10 years, he and I know each other well after all this time and there is always a lot to talk about.

Your situation is different. Tell him before he begins that you have a headache. Good luck with that.
It usually helps to ask for a magazine and look really engrossed in it, and they tend to leave you alone! My hairdresser is pretty cool though, we have nothing in common to talk about, but he usually has some good stories to tell.
yeh. i think if u wana chat to them u should start the topic of conversation off otherwise they rant on about stuff u dont even care about! i prefer to just sit and have 20 mins to myself without them chinning on in my ear!
No not really it's the other way around for me.

I don't want her/him to do my hair with complete silence, that's uncomfortabble. But a hairdresser who can't seem to shut up is annoying too =]
Not so much, but I have a chatty dentist that loves to pick argumentative subjects exactly when I have my mouth full of stuff, by the time I am able to speak my time is over........
Anyone who goes on and on about nothing will last less than five minutes with me when having my hair cut or any other such necessary but time involving activity.
They're trying to spice up their job. I also find talk at the hairdressers fairly awkward but I was never one to open up with strangers.
it depends what they are talking about really, i hate sitting in silence. but i'd rather the hairdresser concentrating on my hair so it doesn't screw up
I have children so I like to just sit and relax while getting my hair cut and enjoy the silence.
it is annoying but not as bad as when the dentist or hygienist asks you questions while they have their hands in your mouth. almost impossible to respond
maybe they just like to talk to break the ';uncomfortable silence';.
I agree with you.....All I want to do is get my hair cut in peace. I don't want to hear all the barbers drivell and idal chit chat
I honestly hate sitting in silence. It makes me feel uncomfortable for some reason. I don't mind when they talk to me as long as they don't mess up my hair.
No, I am nervous around strangers so it relieves me when they talk. Otherwise, I do all the talking.
sometimes yes, when i go to get my hair cut or fix my hair the hairdressers talk for so long i am sorry but they think we care about their life
I agree with you unless it is someone you have been to many times they should pay attention to what they are doing.
god that does my fooking head in I feel like saying just shut the fook up cut my hair the way I want, and let me fook off!!!! lol xxxx
YES!!! I quit going to my last stylist because I couldn't stand listenting to her. She told me her life story every time I went there and it was making me sick.
yes bloody annoying! i wish theyd zip it %26amp; let me have my own thoughts while i am being pampered

all trey ever talk about is hols %26amp; the weather BORING
I never used to like all this small talk until a few years back, changed barber and the one I've got now I actually look forward to the crack......so go somewhere else maybe Best of luck.
yes. especially when they tell you not to move cuz talking makes your head move its like being at the fooking dentist. cant have someones hands in my mouth and talk at the same fooking time.
I prefer to chat as I find silent moments embarrassing.
Yes you know i went to the hairdressers once and all i heard was.

    '; I'm going out tonight can't wait. ';

    Jose Eber
The most famous hairdresser in Hollywood is probably JOSE EBER: A TV personality in his own right, Jose's opulent Beverly Hills salon (inside the Two Rodeo Drive center) attracts celebrity customers such as Cher, Elizabeth Taylor, Barbra Streisand, Meg Ryan and Farrah Fawcett.

CHRISTOPHE (at 348 N. Beverly Drive) is the man responsible for giving former President Bill Clinton the infamous $200 haircut that caused the President so much bad publicity during his first year in office; Barbra Streisand sent First Lady Hillary Clinton to Christophe's Beverly Hills salon for a new do - one she changes regularly. Christophe also has done the hair of stars such as Nicole Kidman, Sally Field, Goldie Hawn, Ted Danson, and Kate Capshaw . His hair colorist, Lori Goddard, has worked with Farrah, Rosanna Arquette and Markie Post. One hair colorist is Matthew Boger, whose long-term clients have included Sharon Stone, Lauren Holly, Liv Tyler,

ALLEN EDWARDS (216 26th Street, in Brentwood) has cut hair for the likes of Dustin Hoffman, Donna Mills, Geena Davis, Suzanne Somers, Raquel Welch, Anne Bancroft and Sharon Stone. He originated Farrah Fawcett's famous 70's shag. In 1995, during the O.J. Simpson trial, he gave prosecutor Marsha Clark a new hair style which got a lot of media attention. (310) 394-2878.

FEKKAI (440 N. Rodeo Drive), a relative newcomer in Beverly Hills, but not with the Show Biz crowd. Fr茅d茅ric Fekkai has been styling hair at Fifth Avenue %26amp; 57th Street in New York for the likes of Sandra Bullock, Barbra Streisand, Kate Capshaw and Rita Wilson (Mrs. Tom Hanks). Now his famous clients can visit him closer to home. Ellen Degeneres and Anne Heche did when they were an item. So have Ashley Judd, Debra Messing (of ';Will %26amp; Grace';), Jessica Biel (of ';7th Heaven';) and Melanie Griffith. You can too, if you don't mind long waits (he's only in town one week out of each month) and if you don't mind paying $300+ per haircut. (less if someone else at his salon does the work.) (310) 777-8700.

JOSEPHMARTIN (421 N. Rodeo Drive). The ';Joseph'; in JosephMartin is Joseph Kendall, a famed haircutter whose celebrity clients have included Julia Roberts, Oliver Stone and Hugh Grant . The salon also offers Barron Matalon, who specializes in the kind of soft, layered cuts of the sort he gave Jane Fonda. His other clients have included Debra Winger and Madeline Stowe. (310) 274-0100.

JOHN FRIEDA (8440 Melrose Place) Sally Hershberger has quickly become one of the top stylists in Hollywood. She can boast of Meg Ryan, Winona Ryder and Michelle Pfeiffer as regulars for her $400 haircuts. She's also done the hair of Hillary Clinton (for the cover of Vogue), Olivia Newton-John, Jane Fonda, Nicole Kidman, Courtney Love and even Tom Cruise. Also at John Frieda is colorist Lorri Goddard who's regulars include Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Renee Zellweger, Meg Ryan and Madonna. Plus Negin Zand, a colorist whose clients include Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Sarah Jessica Parker, Pamela Anderson, Kate Hudson and Scarlett Johansson.

ESTILO (at 7402 Beverly Boulevard, Hollywood) Philip Carreon first gave Jodie Foster her very popular haircut (with bangs) here in 2002, as he did for Juliette Lewis. The salon has done a lot of work for films and videos, with clients such as Jewel, David Bowie, Geena Davis, Heather Graham and Rebecca De Mornay. (310) 936-6775.

I want to be a hairdresser. But how can I become really good at it?

I have been thinking about becoming a hairdresser. But I really want my clients to be happy when they leave. So how can I make myself a good hairdresser. Also how can I get them to tell me what they really want? When some of them don't really tell you want they want!I want to be a hairdresser. But how can I become really good at it?
a lot of people i'm guessing dont know exactly what they want straight away.

you could ask them about anything they've seen on celebrities or friends or something, or get them to look through some magazines for ideas before you bring them to the chair.

make sure you know as much as possible about why they are there, what they want, what they are getting it cut for etc. and just make sure they are comfortable.I want to be a hairdresser. But how can I become really good at it?
go to college and train . get an apprenticeship at a good salon . and if u want to have ure own business also take a business management course and that will obvi help u have a successful one lol .
I really want to be a hairdresser too. I will be getting my degree in business in december and will be starting cosmetology school in January. [why i bothered with getting a business degree?] I want to own my own salon. Im worried about my clients leaving unhappy and not coming back, or telling their friends i F-ed up their hair. Most things I hear people saying and think I even sometimes find myself saying is ';she didn't do what I asked, she did what she thought was best'; Im just going to do exactly what my client asks for, if they say they want pink hair... then pink hair it is. If im not completely clear on eactly what my client wants im going to ask questions until they paint a clear enough picture. Also im going to make sure my shop has plenty of mag's and photos of up to date styles for customers to look at, a photo is always a good way of putting what your trying to convey into a picture so i hope by having lots pf pictures and magazines my clients will be able to visualize what they want and be able to show me exactly what they want so we both can be happy.

    good luck!!!

Any hairdressers that could help me out..?

I have a cow's lick, and so just now I have my hair in an off-centre parting. About 2 cm from a centre parting and to my right side. But the thing is, I really want to have a sweeping side fringe.

But my hair doesn't seem to allow it, but I was wondering if it ever would be able to?

    :(

much love, rdm_xAny hairdressers that could help me out..?
Depending on how strong it is, I have found that the best thing is to work with it. You are going to be in a constant battle, and it is going to win every time!

Usually, I like to put the part through the cowlick, and use it as part of the design. you will get some nice lift out of it and may give you additional fullness without working for it. You might want to leave that section just a bit longer so it has some added weight to hold its shape.

If you try to force it against its natural direction, you will get a lot of lift and fighting back. You can use it to advantage, or be in constant battle.

Not knowing what kind of bangs you are talking about, it is hard to make any suggestions. I would think, if the cowlick is not that severe, you could be able to put just a hint of a bend in the ends of the hair, and the brush them to one side, allowing it to fall into place. If the cowlick is very prominent, this may not be possible to the same degree as you wish.

My best suggestion would be to consult with a professional stylist, and see what they can suggest. They will be able to see you and your hair, and better know what will work or not for you. Don't do anything at that time (as to cutting or shaping) until you have time to go home and think about it. Cuts take a long time to grow out! But if a good solution can be found that you are happy with, I think you will really enjoy it more than having to fight with it every day. Sometimes we can't have what we would like, but need to learn to like what we have.Any hairdressers that could help me out..?
The only thing that really helps a cowlick is length to pull it flatter. You need to let that spot grow out for a while. Your cowlick will always remain, as it is formed from a section of hair where the follicles direct the hair to grow out in a different direction from most of your hair. Length to pull it out does mask it though

How much to tip at hairdresser?

Kind of a random question ... but I am getting my hair colored. One of the girls in the shop is going to color it, but the owner of the shop is going to be the one cutting/blow-drying it. It's going to cost $75. How much do I tip each?? (I have heard that you aren't supposed to tip the owner, but feel funny about that, since its a friend of a friend.) Do I tip them separately?? Stupid question, I know, but don't want to look stupid. How much to tip at hairdresser?
I am a hairstylist. Owners usually do not accept tips, but in some instances depend on them just as much as the other employees. around 20% is customary if you are satisfied. as so there is no confusion as to who you should tip, and how much for each, leave the tip with the person whom you pay for your services. How much to tip at hairdresser?
I usually tip depending on how long it took them and how good of a job i think they did. I just got my hair in an updoe for a formal event last week. The lady was very nice, my hair looked beautiful and she actually did all my hair (Its long and i have a lot) in less then an hour. There was even a special that day since my friend and i went together it was only $35 a piece my friend only tipped like $3 but i thought she did great and the place was very nice so i tipped her $15. I guess ive always been like that though i like being nice. So i guess it depends on how satisfied you are. I would say at least $5 if it takes them about an hour.
I used to work in Toni and Guy and people didn't really tip that much, but one women tipped 拢20 and the girl was quite shocked. So maybe 拢5-10 depending how much you liked it, and 拢1 for the girl that washes your hair.
15-20% of the bill before discounts and taxes. So, 20% of $75.00 is $15.00 and 15% of $75.00 is $11.25
You should tip about 20% but only if they do a really good job. I think that $10-$15 should more than cover it.
    You should tip around 20%.

To hairdressers - what angle would i do this hair cut at?

  • Tipping hairdressers - What do you give? if anything?

Im a hairdresser and it is nice to give a few quid. makes us feel like u have had a good experience , and like ur hair.. If you've been treated like **** then dont give nothing .. **** them.. But it is nice to get a few quid.. A fiver and they will not forget u , and will try harder to impress next time u come in.. And they will remb ur name hahaTipping hairdressers - What do you give? if anything?
she don't make enough money, she can quit.

    ';I don't tip because society says I

    gotta. I tip when somebody

    deserves a tip. When somebody

really puts forth an effort, they

    deserve a little something extra.

But this tipping automatically no. As far

    as I'm concerned, they're just

    doin their jobs';

Do you get tipped for doing your job ?Tipping hairdressers - What do you give? if anything?
I dont .I have had my hairdresser for about 4yrs know and have never needed to , she really like us and we really like her .There is no need to tip a hairdresser as having your hair done normally costs enough anyway so dont worry about it they wont be offened. What they would prefer more is to have a good relationship with the client and be able to do your hair how you want and hopefully you will become a regular client of theirs.
I usually just say 'keep the change' but only if it's around about 拢2, if not I would usually give 拢1. I hate feeling obliged to tip certain workers, I think they earn enough anyway, especially if they are the owner. My sons haircut costs 拢5.50 and I always give him the 50p change, he seems to appreciate that! There's no need to give too much, a small amount is appreciated.
    15% if it's decent, 20% if it's good and she's nice, 25% if it's REALLY good and/or if it's the holiday season.

My haircut typically costs $40 US (for a shampoo, cut, style and blow-dry). I usually give the stylist $8 (20%) and the shampoo girl $2, which means I spend $50.
i just got my hair cut and highlights and lowlights. total 125.00

    tip 20.00 to hairdresser

    5.00 to shampoo girl

if you are a tipped/commissioned employee chances are that is How you make your money. plaese do not think it is o.k. not to tip at all. just give a little if you cant afford a big tip. as a matter of fact, if you can not afford the tip, cut your own hair. same goes for when you go out to eat. no tip? stay the f*ck home
My barber charges me $17. I always give him a $20 bill and let him keep the change. It's not 20% that is recommended, but I am retired and on a fixed income, he knows this. He seems to appreciate the tip and always makes room in his schedule to accommodate me.
i think it depends on how they do and how much the hair cut is.. In my case I tip 30% because my hair cut only costs 20 bucks and she does a great job..
Should be around 15%, with a bit more for the shampoo person if there was a separate one.
Give like 5 dollars....plus it depends on if your hair is really nice and if you have the extra money to give.
拢1 but being a bloke my hair cuts only cost 拢8
I just give mine 拢1 everytime i go in
    拢5
    拢2
    A few dollars.

What to say to the hairdresser inorder to get this fringe style?

What do I say to the hairdresser inorder to get this fringe style?

and how do you grow it?

    ive heard it is called a ';side fringe.';

    please help??

link : http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/2563/baozt0.jpgWhat to say to the hairdresser inorder to get this fringe style?
take the picture with you and tell your hairdresser that you want it to look like that. =)What to say to the hairdresser inorder to get this fringe style?
Personally ~I~` would not think of that as side fringe so be very careful if you ask for that. The cut is adorable but very severe so make sure you think about it because once it's done there's not turning back. However, I think it's a very exaggerated razor (straight) cut and the fringe comes from excessive thinning and tapering of the ends. It helps if your hair is somewhat ';stubborn'; to begin with so it will stand up on it's own. If not use PLENTY of product to make it do it. The girl in the pic looks like she may have Asian hair and usually that does it beautifully. If yours is soft and silky better think twice.
if it's not possible to take the pic with you then yes it's a side fringe....

Do you complain if a hairdresser makes a bad job of your hair do?

I had my hair cut on Sunday and the hairdresser kept cutting and cutting my fringe, despite me asking her repeatedly to stop!! I complained but there is not much they can do once it has been cut off, just wondered if anyone else had a similar story?Do you complain if a hairdresser makes a bad job of your hair do?
Totally you complain! If you asked her and then TOLD her to stop, then she should stop. I once refused point blank to pay for a haircut after the hairdresser made me look like a complete boob, giving the opposite of what I wanted and not stopping and because she did such a terrible job I walked out without having to pay. If I were you though, I'd put my foot down really hard and demand to speak to her superior. I'd seriously not think twice about refusing to pay them happened to me again though.Do you complain if a hairdresser makes a bad job of your hair do?
I have had similar problems- just generally a lack of service. It's as though they are doing you a favour by cutting your hair and you have to be grateful, although you are the one paying.

I must have tried 15 different hairdressers before I found mine. She's not chatty and over friendly but she cuts my hair perfectly- just how I like it. Even if I only have it trimmed, people still notice as she gets the ends so sharp and neat.

So my advice is keep trying until you find one you like.
Remember...it's YOU that's paying for their services...they work for you! But there's not much you can about a fringe that's cut too much. It's not the end of the world...it'll grow back soon. Just go to a different hairdresser next time or a different salon.
A few months ago I had a very awkward situation with my regular hairdresser: her next client arrived early and as a result she really rushed my haircut. It seemed to be OK, but a few days later when I washed it, I could see how terrible it really was - she'd completely wrecked the style by not doing the layers properly and by any objective standards, my hair looked awful!

I phoned the salon and spoke to her: I was really nice and said that I felt very uncomfortable about calling her but that something had gone awry with the cut. Two days later I returned to the salon and she re-cut my hair; as soon as I sat down and she took a look at me she admitted my hair looked dreadful!

I left the salon with a lovely cut; the one I should have received originally; she felt happy, I felt happy, and it was a great result all round! And she's still my hairdresser!

So yes - if you've received a poor cut DEFINITELY SPEAK UP!
I have before.. Some are incompetent and some just dont care to do it right. And some are just sadists, seriously. I didn't have a haircutter like that but I had a dentist who seemed to take pleasure in causing tremendous pain in my teeth. It was only till years later that I realized I wasnt imagining it, that he probably had serious psychological problems.
Sadly no, I never complain. I am simply left with a fear of hairdressers! What is it with that not listening thing?! I sit there, let them hack my hair off, somehow manage a smile and a thank you, hand over far too much money, try not to run til I'm out the door and then break down in tears when I get home in front of a mirror to view the horror I have been left with atop my poor head! The fringe is definitely the biggest mine field and now I say 'take the minimum off, I like it looking like it's going to need a trim in the next couple of weeks' so far that has worked for me and I haven't ended up looking like I did in one particularly bad school photo after my Mum had had a go at it!
Well it depends how bad they cut it and if they can rectify it really. Dont go back again.
I did. I had made a booking with the main stylist, he was out, they gave me some 17 year old, she butchered my hair, I was left looking like a croydon scrubber. (As the haircut did actually take place in croydon it was probably the only style she knew) Awful.

I kicked up a stink, and refused to pay the full 拢60, offering a fiver instead. The salon got very aggressive with me threatening to call the police, I stood my ground, pointed to my godawful hair as evidence, they said they never wanted to see me again, this was not a problem for me.
    Been there and done that!!

Best thing is to do is never to go back there again.

There are some hairdressers that put their own 'style' into your haircut and your like 'hello?' i don't want it like that!

But my advice is not to complain, it won't get you absolutly anywhere, because when you leave the hairdressers they'll probably laugh and ***** behind your back.

I'm a hairdresser and If some wants to complain, i wouldn't mind. I just want the client to love their hair not to hate it but all people are different. And because i'm new to the trade i havent gone all meany yet!! x
yh simuliar story strangely enuf next time you go into that hairdressers bring some of your friends and say your interested totally then ask for the hairdresser you had last time and ask her if shewould kindly explain what happened last tym and if she is rude you and your friends go but if not then stay
I was once growing out a perm and went to a new salon where i asked the stylist to layer it. She was chatting away saying how she thought my hair was lovely and when she'd finished cutting it, it looked great.........the problem arose when she starting blow drying it. I wanted her to scrunch dry it (it was the late 80's by the way!) but instead she dried it and styled it in such a way, i looked like i was wearing a wig (and a bad one at that!) i didnt complain, just did that thing that most people do when a hairdresser is showing you the back of your hair with a mirror, nodding my head and making noises of approval but in my mind thinking ';what on earth has this stupid woman done with my hair!'; I even gave her a tip and left the salon very quickly, ran home and dunked my head under the tap! Needless to say i never went there again!!
I have complained, sternly but politely. I brought 9 pictures to a stylist (all showed very similar cuts) and stressed that I did not want my hair angled at the bottom at all. Can you say BLUNT CUT? Although he said he understood, could/would cut it how I wanted, etc. he proceeded to hack it into an EXTREME angle, and 3 inches shorter than I specified to boot! Not enough hair left to un-angle it so I was stuck. The worst part, and what made me angriest, is that he acted as if he did not care at all - he couldn't even fake feeling bad about it. I spoke to the salon owner, showed him the pictures, and he was in total disbelief. I told him I wasn't paying for the cut and he didn't argue. Poor guy looked mortified. The capper was that I had a job interview the following week. I got the job but the bad cut really shook my confidence.

Needless to say I never went back to that salon. If you repeatedly told your stylist to stop %26amp; she didn't listen I'd think twice (10 times!) about returning. Thankfully, I have an EXCELLENT stylist now - 6 years and not a bad cut yet!
it happened to my sister in a Top hair saloon, she asked for bob and they cut her hair all funny long at the front and all cut up at the back then dyed it brown and all blond at the back she was horrified she wanted a brown bob, so she complained and they were so ignorant but they said they would fix it when she went back in they dyed her hair practically black in the end she had to get her hair done my her neighbour.
Many of them do it a lot. Some are incompetent posers trying to pretend they are in the highest levels when they are really learning. The salon makes more money if they can charge clients the higher rates of ';better'; stylists.

You have to be very specific about what you want done and insist they follow your wishes. I have twice had to go back for incompetence of a stylist, once for a perm that burned hair and another time for a dye job gone seriously wrong. If it's bad enough, I won't hesitate to call them up to do what they can do to fix it. If they have tried twice to fix it, I will find another more competent stylist. After all, it's your hair and your money - they shouldn't be experimenting!
yeah same i went to ther hair dresser on thursday and she didnt cut enough off,and also cut it crooked at the back..so i felt too stink going back and complaining so got a friend to cut it..so pissed off tho she charged me 85$ for it and didnt even do a good job.

i really should have gone back.as iam sure the salon owners would rather know of a prob and fix it...

Absolutely you complain. You call the manager and let them see what has happened. It sounds like maybe it was only the fringe. It could of been worse. Insist that your next hc with someone else in the salon or that person if you want to give them another chance is free. This sounds like a miscommunication- I find with photos there are not miscommunications.
I'm a bit wussy when it comes to making a complaint.I'd simply ask for another hairdresser at the same studio next time, then let slip that the other one made a mess of it last time I had it cut.Or, simply change hairdressers in future.

Need to ask my hairdresser for a specific color, how do I ask?

I want to ask my hairdresser to get my hair to sort of a caramel blonde, like mischa barton's when she started on the OC. If you know the colour I'm talking about, how do I ask my hairdresser for this colour so she'll know what I mean? I'm afraid ';caramel blonde'; might be a bit vague.Need to ask my hairdresser for a specific color, how do I ask?
Ask for a Swatch Book, which is a book full of the colors that the salon carry's...Pick the color out of the book, and show her.Need to ask my hairdresser for a specific color, how do I ask?
the best way to ensure that you're getting what you want, take a picture of mishca barton when she first started the oc to your hair dresser and ask if they could dye your hair that color. (:
Bring a picture of Mischa Barton when she had the color of hair that you want. This is the only fool-proof way of her knowing exactly what you would like.
okay you find a picture of mischa barton on the internet ....print it out and take it to your hairdresser

What can i say to get it through to the hairdresser???

I have really thick hair and i want it really really thin, but everytime i go to the hairdressers they dont thin it out enough. Im going to the hairdressers tomorrow- what can i say to the hairdresser to make them realise that i actually want it thinned so about 50% of it is gone??! I can never seem to get it through to them! Please help!!What can i say to get it through to the hairdresser???
I know what you mean. I used to have the same problem. I now go to the Nicky Clarke salon in Manchester and have a hairdresser there called Lisa. She thins it so well and my hair feels 2 times lighter than it did when I went in. If you can make it to the Manchester salon I advise you to do so and book in with Lisa...she will do exactly what you want in your question. Im booked in for 12.30pm on Friday and im counting down the hours! What can i say to get it through to the hairdresser???
I'm a hairdresser and i wouldn't thin anyones hair so 50% is gone, it just wouldn't look right.

If you came to me and said something like, go mad with the thinnig scissors/razor etc or that you want as much bulk out as possible, i wouldn't be offended, if it's not right a observant hairdresser (which i hope i am) should be able to tell on your face.

Say if you want more off, there not mind readers,
Tell them again and at the end if your still not happy with it....and i know this part is hard simply say something....';no this isn't what i asked for say i wanted it 50% more thinner.'; Its awful at times to complain but you have to be honest otherwise you will never get your hair the way you want it!!

    Happy Hair Cut :)
    Tell them to layer/thin it.

And then if you want more done you

tell them to thin it more. Speak up to them

they don't know if you don't say!
after its thinned, say u want it ';whispy and razor-cut.';look at salons in ur area that specialise in razor-cut hair.i found one,and it was gr8.
It depends on the type of hair you have.If its African American you should not use thinning shears on it but they could relax it so that it would appear thinner and it would be more manageable.
Just tell them....Could you thin it out a little bit more please Thanks.

Im a hairdresser, they will not mind coz its their job :D

    Good Lck x
Ask for layers. I have really think hair, and having layers makes it much better and gives it more shape.
For the best results of thin hair get a perm or straightten it. Make sure your perm is not too strong.

Can someone tell me the great things about being a hairdresser?

I am interested in being a hair dresser. I have heard a lot of bad things about it such as veins in your legs from standing so long and messing hair up and losing your job and making customers upset. Is there anything good about hairdressing? Can someone tell me the great things about being a hairdresser?
If your in high school, many beauty colleges are a part of a federally funded program and you can go to school and only pay for the kit and not the schooling.

You pointed out some obvious things that would affect almost all workers that stand on their feet all day.

Stylists seem to always be smiling and enjoying their day. Their loyal customers seem to brighten them up and enjoy fun chats while working. The satisfaction of making someone look good or assisting them find a new look sounds fun to me. In any business there will be issues. Some have a knack for styling and some are only book trained type stylists if you are good at it, try to learn as much as you can, and have good working and client handling skills, its sounds like a very fun job. I took it in 11th grade, kit was around 50.00. I was not talented as it turned out, so I stopped going. I wish I would of stayed in, although I wouldnt of gone into that field, you can still help friends with thier own hair and do my hair better than I do. I was not a smart teen back then :( School was a blast, I really enjoyed going, the people were all really fun and nice, but summer hit and I quit. I would say look into it if its of your interest!!!Can someone tell me the great things about being a hairdresser?

Is there such a thing as a glaze that a hairdresser can put on your hair to make it shiny?

I don't mean the shine products that you can buy to put on everytime you shampoo. I mean a product that keeps your hair shiny for a while. Is there such a thing as a glaze that a hairdresser can put on your hair to make it shiny?
Yes it's a clear coat dye. All color manufacturers have them they call them different things sometimes. It's put on after a color service or on natural hair for shine. Is there such a thing as a glaze that a hairdresser can put on your hair to make it shiny?
No, but using protein on your hair makes it strong and shiny.

Always-shiny hair is from excellent nutrition.

What legal advice or options do i have when a hairdresser cuts my hair considerabl?

Went to the hairdresser to get my low permed hair braided so it would grow some .However she used a nail glue instead of hair glue to bond the hair and ended up bonding my hair too which she had to cut to remove both the glue and added extensions. Now i'm left with a few hairless patches and my hair, the perm present at the time of my do has been all cut off, leaving just the new growth.I tried to reason with her by pointing out the obvious. She gave me a proper verbal thrashing and left the salon.that was just rude i paid a considerable amount to fix my hair ,but now will have to finish cutting it to a low Britney do.I've been having terrible headaches since yesterday after she yanked my hair from the roots in a few places. What then are my legal option i'm almost angry enough to strangle her.Anyone out there with legal advice? What legal advice or options do i have when a hairdresser cuts my hair considerabl?
Hair grows back. Get over it. Go back to the salon and tell whoever is in charge what happened and complain until you get your money back, and get it fixed the best you can. Then wait for it to grow out. Where is everyone's patience these days? What legal advice or options do i have when a hairdresser cuts my hair considerabl?
hey, im not sure about the legal side of it, but don't listen to these people telling you to 'suck it up' and all that crap, yeah, hair grows back but im sure they wouldn't be saying that if it happened to them. This hairdresser that did this to you, not only made a very stupid mistake, but also acted very unprofessionally, like I say I don't know about the legal side, although i'd look into it, but definitley go and talk to the owner about it, and if they are unreasonable, then that gives you more to complain about at a legal level. good luck, hope it works out for you.
What ever you do, document everything. The more documentation you have the better off you are. Take pictures of your hair before you have anything done to correct the problem. If you live in the U.S., you could probably take her to small claims court. I WOULD!!!
Legal action taken due to an unsatisfactory result of your hair is for the mean spirited- this is your hair for heavens sake.

  • How much does a hairdresser gets paid in Australia Melbourne ?

Depends as to whether you are full-time or part-time.

The minimum wage in Australia is about $18.00 per hour.

I'm presently living in the USA and have been a hairdresser for nearly 30 years, I can't do hair styling here in the USA due to the ridiculous laws.... I'm not sure as to what Australia requires.

I do know, that once you have completed College in Australia you are licensed for life....and there are no rules as to which state you can work in. USA is all about taking your money.

I can't believe that I was told that I would have to be tested for a hairdressing license here in the USA.... Give me a break!

Anyway, if you are thinking of working in Australia, you will probably have to go back to College as our education and standards are much higher. The 8th grade in Australia is equivalent to the first year of college in the USA.

Hairdressers when u were in school ?

what would u have done...i chopped my mannequin head in a bad way now everything i try to do on my uniform head is a disaster....my teacher said before that i needed new hair and that she was going to give me hers...now all of a sudden she changed her mind..should i call owner tomorrow and explain to him the issue i am facing? And maybe ask him if i can purchase new hair?Hairdressers when u were in school ?
Most schools allow for more than one mannequin as part of your tuition price. If you cannot get them to let you try on another, you may have to suck it up and buy your own. You can purchase them at and Sally Beauty Supply Store or www.sallybeauty.com at a fair price. Try pleading your case to the owner first, maybe they will cut you come slack. No pun intended.

Best of luck %26amp; hang in there.... we all went through it!Hairdressers when u were in school ?
one of my cosmetology class friends gave her mannequin an AWFUL, unfixable cut, and she had to buy a new one. you can still use it for practicing hair coloring and shorter cuts, though... right?
Is it possible to give it extensions or is it worse than that? You may want to check about getting new.

Why does my hairdresser claim that having my haircut every 4-6 weeks will help it grow faster?

...Besides wanting my money, that is! I just don't understand how cutting the ends of something, which is growing out of my head will make any difference in how quickly it grows. Why does my hairdresser claim that having my haircut every 4-6 weeks will help it grow faster?
Cutting your hair only makes it shorter, does not affect the growth rate one iota, and cannot determine the length that your hair will grow to. Maximum hair length is determined by the shape and width of the hair shaft, and that is determined genetically and is not alterable with current technology.

Lastly, hair is neither healthy or unhealthy. It is in fact, dead. Else, it would really hurt to cut it. It is the health of the hair follicle below the outer skin that requires nutrients for good health, and no adverse hormonal activity.

So, unless you have split ends or chemically damaged hair, the only need to cut the hair is for the look that you want. A few things that you can do to ensure that your hair follicle remains healthy and your hair is undamaged, are:

Really nice article below maybe you should print it off for her/himWhy does my hairdresser claim that having my haircut every 4-6 weeks will help it grow faster?
Becauseof your split ends. If you dont trim them it continues to split up and your hair wont grow.
The ends, tips of your hair dry out, become brittle, break off and sometimes split. Trimming the ends regularly keeps your hair looking healthy, shiny and manageable.
Its to cut the split ends and dead hair off. If you only go in once a year or twice a year they will have to cut off a lot more to make it healthy.
    no theres no prove
if you leave it any longer the ends of your hair die and your hair doesn't grow anymore. so if you cut them off, it will grow.
Because the more you cut or shave your hair the faster it grows. It grows immunity to scissors...
it won't, and only a short sculptured cut needs that much trimming, for shaping, not growth
It doesn't make it grow quicker.
becaus e it is true you shlould listen to her most people think it is supposed to be every 3 months but that is way off. Everyone should get a propper trim about every month
she means that if you trim your split ends. idk y but it actually works!
Well you have to get the split ends cut off. The're ugly and the longer you wait to get them cut off the more you'll have to cut.

    Hope i helped!!
Lanie; You got it right.hair grows a 1/2 inch a month, if that 1/2 would make a difference in your style then cut it, if it

doesn't, then cut it, only when you feel it needs it, cutting doesn't make it grow any faster,as far as split ends, good care, not cutting prevents them
Because she's feeding into a common misconception. You're right. It doesn't make it grow faster, just makes it look healthier.
Well I am a professional and yes you should. Because when you hair splits and it always will on the ends and for most higher you have to cut it. Why? because when it splits it will keep splitting more and more so instead of one strand of hair you have many and finely it breaks off.
Trimming ends between 4 and 6 weeks, keeps your hair in top condition. You will be less likely to have split ends and breakage which can hinder new growth.

    Your hairdresser is correct.
because if you have split ends they will break your hair off and if you don't cut them it makes the hair worse and the spilt ends go higher
because she needs to make money
it's cuz the part that she trims off every 4-6 weeks is dead hair or split ends, and split ends don't grow at all and over time it will gradualy get longer and and u will be growing healthy hair!!!

    ~Lindsay
because it removes the split ends which break and causes the hair to be shorter the hair grows a half an inch a month and your only removing the ends from a cosmetologist

No, she sits me in the chair, says ';ok what are we doing today'; I tell her what I want done to my hair and then she says something along the lines of ';ok, lets go shampoo'; or ';sounds good, right this way (to the sinks)';.What does your HAIRDRESSER say before they WASH your hair?
well if they just dyed it then they'll have to wash it to get the dye out.

and usually your hair has to be wet for them to cut it.

My bangs are staying in place, and my hair is extremely sleek, soft, tangle-free, and shiny. Does anyone have any idea what type of product she used? What did my hairdresser put in my hair?
There are 10,000 hair products out there. Really, your hairdresser should have told you what she was using, because she could have sent you home with a bottle. Call her and tell her you want to swing by and pick up a bottle. I'm sure she has plenty in stock. What did my hairdresser put in my hair?
call and ask email me when u do plz
Yup...sounds like Biosilk Silk Therapy. It is awesome stuff. Another possibility could be Aquage Volumizing Treatment. Why don't you call and ask?? Chances are you are going to have to buy it from the salon....some of those products are just not replicated over the counter.
I agree that it's Biosilk Silk Therapy cuz every salon I've been to used it on me.. also if it is that.. (you should call and ask to be 100% sure) don't buy it at the salon.. look at beauty supply stores first.. it'll be WAY cheaper.. thing is sumtimes u need to have a license (like Hairdresser, Make-up Artist) to be able to go there.. or try and buy it at a more discount salon.. worked for me hehe.. good luck finding what product.. it's always nice when u find something that really works =)
why dont you go and ask her?
ur hairdressere has probably used a thickening lotion or a volumizing lotion ,,,, why dont u ask ur hairdresser what product was used on ur hair?
go ask her, because there are about a million and one possibilities. Im sure shell be happy to tell you!
maybe it was biosilk silk therapy?

its an awesome serum that doesnt weigh hair down

How to accept a tip politely as a hairdresser? ?

Im in hair school and we get sometimes get money tips when we finish whatever the client is getting done.. I sometimes feel a little boring in just saying ';thank you'; when I finish a client and we didnt talk much during the service. I need advice on what i should say and/or do when receiving tips on these situations please and thankx in advance :)How to accept a tip politely as a hairdresser? ?
You can say many good things you wish. Write up some phrases if you want to remember and use them randomly.

For instance, if I were to compile my own phrases after receiving tips, they would be:

    ';Thank you so much. Have a great afternoon.';

    ';Thanks alot. Hope to see you again.';

    ';Thanks. Take care and have a wonderful day.';

';Thank you very much. Take a mint or chocolate.'; (you could put a bag of mints or chocolates on the front counter if you like to give them out).

Hope this helps. How to accept a tip politely as a hairdresser? ?
Say ';Thank you'; but make sure you have eye contact when you say it

and do talk to your clients as sometime you might be the only person who will have time for that person
    Too me my hairdresser is a great friend. She makes me feel good about myself. When I tip her, she says ';Thank You, Ii appreciate that %26amp; I'm glad you liked it';
say ';Thats so nice of you'; and smile. and you can take anyone elses too, but remember always smile when you can!
    Hey Mike is right on!!!!

Is it customary to tip your barber or hairdresser?

Does it matter on the price of haircut? Like would you still do it if it's a $30 haircut or styling? How much do you tip?Is it customary to tip your barber or hairdresser?
If your stylist is working in someone else's shop either on commission or salaried, then yes, because the bulk of the money you pay for the cut is going to the owner of the shop. If your stylist is the owner of the shop, then a tip isn't necessary because all of what you pay goes to him or her. If part of your services is performed by someone other than your stylist (such as a shampoo girl) you should tip that person too. 20% of the cost of the service is a normal tip amount for the stylist. I usually give the shampoo girl $5.00.Is it customary to tip your barber or hairdresser?
I usually just tip a simple 5 bucks for a normal thank you

but don't tip if you think they did terrible, that will send them the message
Yes I think it is. I believe for two reasons: 1 if you don't you seem very cheap and 2 you seem unappreciative of their work. Usually it is 15%-30% of the total
No its not customary. You only should tip if they did an amazing job.
yes, you should tip 20% of the service :)
    It's polite.
You should always tip a hairdresser, valet, food delivery driver, waiter, bartender, manicurist... Most of these people make minimum wage and rely heavily on their tips. 18-20% is appropriate if you are happy with the service. And tipping change is insulting.
I live in Australia and I have never tipped my hairdresser. (But we do not tip...If you do, most places make you split your tips with all the staff and/or the business takes it!)

So that said... I have paid for the service fair and square, if they want more money than they should charge accordingly.

But judging by the answers on here everyone else tips any person in service.
Well, yes, in my country (Mexico) it is..... but it's usually to the customer's discretion. There's no fixed % that ';people are expected/supposed'; to tip as it is in restaurants, for example. I used to tip a 10% +/-... the hair stylist that I have now is quite good so I tip him 15-20%, but that's only because he does a good job. If I don't like it, I tip very little or none at all. But I always try to stick to only 1 stylist and not try others I don't know or have not been recommended to me, neither to be in other people's hands (shampoo girls or whatever).
yes i tip both of them thats how they make most of there money
    Hey,

If it's a $30.00 haircut, then you can afford to tip. These are working folks who earnings are partially dependent on tips. I use the same formula as I do in restaurants: 15-20%. The more you tip, the better the service in the future. They really remember you for tipping well and for not tipping at all. Which way do you want to go?
    I always tip 15 - 30%

If your hairdresser wont o a drastic change then she maybe isn't completely comfortable with her work, or maybe shes not sure you'd suit it.

You should maybe go to a creative stylist because they're best at deciding what will suit you.

Is Kabuki hairdresser in Melbourne any good?

I am in need of a haircut and I have no idea where to go. HELP!Is Kabuki hairdresser in Melbourne any good?
Hope this website can give some suggestion. http://www.kabuki.com.au/

How do i fix a supposedly professional hairdresser mistake (too orangey)?

I went to a professional hair dresser to get my hair a light brown with blonde highlights?with more blonde in it, he stripped my hair we went thru a long process long story short, he messed up and didnt give me the color i wanted, iy is more yellow/orangey all over. I feel like ronald mcdonald. its been 3 weeks and i really dont like it. i know people have made fun of me, but how do i correct it without going back to him, (now my roots are coming back too)How do i get it to look like the new version of Jessica Alba? How do i fix a supposedly professional hairdresser mistake (too orangey)?
Well i dont know if this will work ....but i borght this hair gel buy 'fructis' and when you use quite alot it makes your hair look darker so it may make it less obvious...i hope this helped

Jenny xoxHow do i fix a supposedly professional hairdresser mistake (too orangey)?
Go back to him and make a complaint, get your money back or have it done again by someone else better than him!

if all fails, you can sue them!
it's too late to make him fix it now. you should have done it the next day.

it doesn't sound too difficult to fix, though.

did he strip the last color or your natural color?

if it was the last color then he can retouch your roots with a high volume developer and an ash color; and run a lighter ash through to the ends after picking out blond pieces and foiling them with conditioner.

if you didn't use all the products that were suggested by the stylist for your 'new hair' then it WILL fade; and going to court will only cost you money. there is a reason why stylists recommend certain products and it's not always just to make the extra money. (we make more on referrals than product)
Soak your hair in a 50/50 mix of bleach and lighter fluid (leave it in for about half an hour)... it will take out the orange-colour and leave you with perfect blonde highlights...

Does your HAIRDRESSER always SHAMPOO your hair at the salon?

Do you like getting your hair washed at the hairdressers?Does your HAIRDRESSER always SHAMPOO your hair at the salon?
It's lovely, very relaxing. I have mine shampooed cos I have it dyed but you don't have to have it done. They can just wet it.Does your HAIRDRESSER always SHAMPOO your hair at the salon?
No, depends what you ask for.

Generally if your spending a bit more they will wash and condition it with designer products before cutting it.

And if your going for a new style its much easier for them to cut it when its wet as its not flyaway.

I dont mind having it washed, i dont like it when they try to give you a 'scalp massage' when they're doing it though!!
    Yes and yes
Oh! I adore getting my hair washed by the hairdressers at my salon. They don't just wash it, they massage my scalp, which is really good for your hair.

    Benefits of scalp massage:

    1. Stimulates blood flow, which helps feed the hair follicles.

    2. Helps prevent and fight avoidable hair loss.

    3. Re-establishes the natural development of healthy hair

    4. Relaxing %26amp; calming. Often helps relieve headaches and migraines.

So, I would highly suggest getting your hair shampooed every time by the stylists at the salon.
    yeah its kind of relaxing..
    Yes to both.

  • My gay hairdresser now refuses to cut or style my hair, can anyone tell me what legal options I have?

I currently go to an extremely exclusive salon in nearby Laguna Beach where Fernando, a homosexual master stylist, cuts my hair for approximately $150 per cut.

I got into a dispute with him last week over homosexual marriage (he is gay himself, I am not prejudiced against the folks because they make the best stylists), saying it will spell doom to society, and he told me that he could no longer cut my hair because being in my presence makes him feel uncomfortable. I use the credit card I jointly have with my wealthy husband and as money is no object for that quality of a cut. So I offered him as high as $500 each time he cuts it, but he still will not budge, saying this is an issue of principle, not money.

What can I do to make him change his mind? Am I allowed under California or federal law to file a discrimination suit against the salon for discriminating against me on the basis of being a Christian? My gay hairdresser now refuses to cut or style my hair, can anyone tell me what legal options I have?
why is everything about money to you people? i go to cost cutters and pay 15 dollars for my hair cut and i don't care who cuts it. your not going to get anything on him for discrimination. he will get you for being against his gayness. just take it in the *** and go get your hair cut somewhere else. is it really going to prove anything? what that your husband has money and you think you got life by the balls!! get over yourself and get it cut somewhere elseMy gay hairdresser now refuses to cut or style my hair, can anyone tell me what legal options I have?
Someone told me to read all of your questions and answers for a laugh.

    I didn't laugh.

For all your money, you seem like the smallest, most pathetic person.

And suing for discrimination because you're Christian? You're married, and by your other answers, it looks like you can't keep your legs closed long enough to look up the word ';adultery';. Maybe while you're burning in hell you can check the front of your bible for that one.
Suck his crap-covered cock, just your FAKE QUESTION style.
You better start looking for a new hairdresser.

I can't blame the guy for feeling the way he does in your presence but when you're sitting in his vhair, you are at his mercy.
He isn't breaking any law by refusing to do your hair.

The only legal option you have is to try and find some other stylist who does not find you as objectionable and ask him to cut your hair.

It might be a good idea to keep your unsolicited comments to yourself next time.
Yup.... starting to think that all of these questions are part of a colossal, un-funny joke.

You obviously have too much time on your hands.
    LMAO!

Nice story, I was very entertained. Maybe you can make amends by offering him some free tickets to see Cher, and then avoiding future conversation about this contentious issue.
Would you really trust him to cut your hair now? Be real.
He has the right to refuse service to anyone.

You cannot force him legally to cut your hair. If anything, he has the right to sue YOU because you made him feel uncomfortable.

Just get another stylist, and keep your opinions about their lifestyle to yourself.
Your stylist is not ';discriminating'; against you because of your religion. He's ';discriminating'; against you because of your political views -- your views about what should or should not be public policy. I think he's being silly, but I can't see how you can have any legal recourse against his silliness.
Bull **** the whole friggin story
So this is what the kids do now instead of playing D%26amp;D
Lol - nice little scenario...if it was true, but why spoil a good story with the truth?!

Anyhoo, I guess the moral of your little tale is that some people's principles can't be bought or sold no matter what the price. Go Fernando!!
Maybe you could go back and give him a genuine apology, after all a Christian knows it is not their place to judge less you be judged.

A splinter in the eye has now turned to splintered hairs how amusing.

Myself I just let my daughter do my hair costs me nothing

and we get bonding time who cares if my hair is somewhat lopsided
Go somewhere else for the time being. there are plenty of good stylists in Cali, i'm sure. Also, i'm sure if ur that wealthy, ur husband has a lawyer on hand. talk to him/her
I have a question is this salon so exclusive that it is by appointment only?

If not then you could just stake it out to make sure all of the other stylists are busey and he is not, when the oppourtunity arises walk in and have your haircut,he cannot refuse you if they are open to the public,if that does not work, then you could just reiterate that you may have come off too harsh, and never intended to insult him, apologize,to him if you understand that sexuality is a sensitive thing, while morals defined by the majority of society may dictate homosexual activity is a wrong choice,it is ultimately a choice that has to be made by each individual,I do not like to watch gay activists marching down the street, because I feel that it is offensive to me,as it appears they push the subject into the veiw of people, and does little for their cause of acceptance.

But so as long as a person does not push their point of veiw on you, then they have the right to lead their own lives in the manner in which they so choose.

But it appears that perhapes this stylist is frustrated by your comments and have decided not to have any dealings with you any longer, best suggestion is to part ways and find you a great hetrosexual hair stylist, just dont mentionthat hetrosexuals should only do the missionary position otherwise you may have to find another stylists very soon.
Well, to put it bluntly, he has the right to refuse service to anyone. Much as you have the right to find another hair dresser; which I highly recommend! No hair dresser, nor hair, is worth $150.00! Unless you're John Edwards paying $400.00 of campaign funds for a hair cut.
Your best bet is to apologize and be sincere. It is obvious that he is not doing it (cutting your hair) because he is a man of principle. Appeal to emotional and logical side (by apologizing), the money doesn't mean anythig to him. I also don't see the relevance of you being a Christain or not in this situation. He more than likely has the option to refuse service to anyone if he is not working for an organization or company.
Your hairdresser not only has the right to refuse service to you, but could bar you from the premesis if he so desired over unwelcome comments about his lifestyle, which is in an EEOC protected group.

Just go to SuperCuts as it won't matter anyway; no amount of styling will make up for an ugly personality.
You may or may not have some legal recourse and may want to throw away MORE money and contact an attorney but do you really want an angry man styling your hair? That would scare me, I like my hair the way it is, on my head.
You have no recourse. Frankly I think your a Liberal teenage boy who has too much tiome on your hand. The question you ask and the story on your profile sounds like a very bad tv Character on Fox. You basically made an archtype villian for liberals. Give me a break.
I doubt it would hold up in any court. Any business has the right to refuse service. besides it sounds like you were discriminating against him.
For starters, your statement, ';he is gay himself, I am not prejudiced against the folks because they make the best stylists'; reeks of prejudice and stereotypes - so, if you fooled youself into believing that you are not prejudiced, you would be the only one that was fooled.

    ';the folks';???

    ';the best stylists';???

As an afterthought, I really don't see the point in giving you any more of my time in providing an answer, so will simply end there.
As an employee he has the right to refuse service to anyone.

Sorry, you're just going to have to cut that hair yourself.
Maybe if you offered an apology instead of money, he would do you hair. You don't need to apologize for how you feel, but you should apologize for hurting his feelings.
Get in the car and drive to another hair stylist not a queer one. Why would you want to feed that bumb anyway. Get a real good straight hair stylest. Forget the lawsuit, what could you win ';nothing';.
You've got a lot to learn. You were the one who made the discriminating remarks. I can't believe you even said what you did in his presence, then thought you could smooth it over with money of all things. And yes, you are prejudiced, as well as shallow, and stupid.

As far as legal options, you have none. It's his establishment, and he has legal rights to refuse your business at any time for any reason. And I don't blame him for doing so.
