ATT: hairdressers looking for work?

i have a salon in altona, melbourne Australia and i am looking for a hairdresser to take over as my hairdresser is retiring, excellent money, as all the clients are there so you would be walking into an established business. Can anyone out there help me as there is a desperate shortage of hairdressers. you can contact me at hevanaroma@yahoo.com.auATT: hairdressers looking for work?
Haha, go us melbournians!

Advertise in the age. Or even go down to Box Hill Tafe - they have a whole salon of unemployed/training hair dressers who will need jobs.

(box hill is in east melb. I think)

xATT: hairdressers looking for work?
hey missy. this is yahoo answers not an open marketplace for you to advertise. thats what the classifieds are for...spam and soliciatation.
that sounds great! but i can't afford to move to australia. :( good luck!

Do hairdressers blow hot and cold?

Yes. They also come out with alot of cutting remarksDo hairdressers blow hot and cold?
Yes, they are a bit cut and come again. Some offer a permanent solution but that has all dyed out and few want to tie up loose ends.Do hairdressers blow hot and cold?
Did I miss something? I thought you meant did hot or cold air come out of their hairdryer. But reading the answers, I must be on the wrong page.
yer depnding what mood their in
yes?
yep you better believe it i am one
Have three sisters that are hairdressers so it gets very windy in our house
just cold or lukewarm. hot will ruin your hair.

What should I tell the hairdresser so I can get scene hair?

I have the picture I want, but I'm afraid my hairdresser won't know what to do. What exactly should I ask for? People are telling me to tell them that I should ask for a lot of short layers. Can you tell me what to ask for? Thanks =]What should I tell the hairdresser so I can get scene hair?
Ask for LOTS of short choppy layers around the crown of your head, and then it's passes your face, make the layers longer and longer.

Also ask to thin it alot.

For the bangs, ask for heavy side sweep bangs.

The picture explains itself too.

Good Luck and enjoy your haircut! What should I tell the hairdresser so I can get scene hair?
i thought the same when i got scene hair cut a few months ago. i just asked for long layers near the bottom and chunky layers at the top and they did it how i wanted. then when you style it yourself its real easy to do scene hair with the chunky short layers at the top.

good luck

How old do u ahve to be to make an appointment at the hairdressers?

im 16 will i be aloud? How old do u ahve to be to make an appointment at the hairdressers?
I made my own appointments when I was 14.How old do u ahve to be to make an appointment at the hairdressers?
You can be any age(as long as you can talk and have money.) to make a appt. at a salon.
Yes, make an appointment, they don't care as you as you pay them.
it's all about money. if a baby walked in there with 100 bucks for a hair cut, they'll take him/her.
if you show up on time and pay them an 8 yr old can.
sure why not! It doesnt matter. JUst think of it like this, how can u turn down a costumer
16, thats plenty old, just do it
Old enough to be able to pay for services!!!
any age..
There isn't an age limit here in the UK.
any age is cool
it doesn't matter, they want the money.
yeah they dont care as long as you give money

  • Hairdresser was out of town and another girl did my hair and I liked the way she did it better?

Would it be really mean to switch? Is there somekind of hairdresser etiquette? I know I can tell my old girl to try and do it the way the new one did it but I dont think she can duplicate it exactly. It was a highlight and cut and style.Hairdresser was out of town and another girl did my hair and I liked the way she did it better?
OMG! when i was younger i did that same exact thing not thinking anything of it...this one really sweet girl did my hair for about a year...then one time she wasnt in and anew girl did my hair and omg she did so much better so i stuck with her....nothing serious will happen..but trust me the old girl..will be pissed cos you are insulting their work..they are kinda artists ....the old girl i had never looked at me or talked to me ever again..but come on i didnt really care i wasnt gonna go to her just to keep her happy...i wanted my hair to look the best it possibly could ...haha....good luckHairdresser was out of town and another girl did my hair and I liked the way she did it better?
Hairdressers are artists. God didn't make you

look that good naturally (the above poster).

Well, to be honest, and as a stylist, that's life.

Book in with the new girl and let the original

hairdresser deal with her emotion. It is hard

to accept that a client you tried your very best

to please moves on to someone else (esp. in

the workplace). But that's how life goes.

She's probably also miffed because her pay

will be cut a little due to the fact that she's

down a client, but if she's good then she'll find

a new client to replace you soon enough.
no just say the new girl knows what to do since she did it last, %26amp; knows what you're looking for in style/cut/color.
let the new girl do your hair if you like the way she dd it better its your hair
Just start going to the new girl...If your hairdresser phones/asks you when in topwn, just be honest and say you liked what she did thats why you switched...

Can You Tell Me How to Describe This Haircut to My Hairdresser?

Anyone know that commercial about some disease you can get and it shows a bunch of clips of teens like 2 girls messing around on beach (pressing cheek to cheek for a pic) and 4 guys after football practice sitting and sharing a water bottle and a girl by a locker and a guy comes up and kisses her.

I want the haircut the girl by the locker has, but can't find a pic or know how to describe it. Can you help me????Can You Tell Me How to Describe This Haircut to My Hairdresser?
you hairdresser will have books and magazines full of different kinds of hair styles. Go in early and look through and show her what you like - even if you like the bangs in this one and the length in another.

Do hairdressers cut their own hair?

You can take a photograph of her on screen while Hollyoaks is showing.
Take in a picture, they'll do the rest, they normally ask for a picture.
find a pic or print screen a video off youtube or something like that but please remember that not many people can pull that hairstyle off

I have my hair coloured to the lightest shade my hairdresser can do but I want it platinum. What can I use?

My hair is coloured to a light blonde but I want it platinum.

My hairdresser can not get it any lighter with the colours she has. And she won't use bleach on my scalp which is fair enough.

I use a Wella silver shampoo to help tone down any yellow bits but I really want a platinum shade all over my hair.

Is there anything that could do this?I have my hair coloured to the lightest shade my hairdresser can do but I want it platinum. What can I use?
if your hairdresser won't go any lighter than you have now then its for a reason. your hair probably won't be able to handle that much bleach in it and your hair will break off. trust me, you'll regret it.

anyways, platinum looks trashy. and it's played out. do something different and classyI have my hair coloured to the lightest shade my hairdresser can do but I want it platinum. What can I use?
Jazz, Unfortunately to have it even lighter you would need to use bleach. I had my hair done from dark blonde to white (painful experience to say the least) The hairdresser had to bleach it twice to get all the colour out and then use a product called seaspray to give it that silvery white look. I would recommend not doing this. Needless to say i didnt get the roots touched up (i reverted to using a color rinse to take it back to its original colour) as using two lots of bleach on my scalp caused the skin to break and bleed and i had little pink patches through my hair. I couldnt feel my head for a few days as it was numb from the bleaching and this was from one of edinburgh's top hairdressing shops.
There's a reason why your hairdresser is the one doing the dying - she's the trained professional with years of experience!

If she won't take your hair blonder, there's a very good reason why.

I've been in the same position, and I had to face facts - my hair is not going to be the colour I dreamed off, so I decided to change it altogether and experimented with darker colours.

HOWEVER, there are sometimes colour ';experts'; in some salons, who will happily achieve the impossible if you are willing to be a guinea pig, so why not try ringing round some other places to see?
Head and Shoulders shampoo and conditioner mixed with washing up liquid can get rid/ lighten hair colour/ dye.

I'd stop colourin and go natural lol u'll only end up wiv damaged hair by going lighter.

Ive dyed mine really light, it turned out yellow lol, then i coloured it golden brown and it went squirrel red, had to go up hair salon to get it sorted. Its not in a great condition atm, but tbh i cant wait till it all grows out tbh.
try asking your hairdresser to tone ur hair with black dye

it might sound crazy, but because blue is what tones hair to silver (or platinum) and its also the main colour in black dye, it works wonders

make sure you get ur hairdresser to do it though because if you DIY it could be a disaster
Go to a bigger salon which has more colours and toners!?
platinum means it is not nice i think.............anyways u want ask ur hairdresser

I want a job at a hairdressers, im 14, 15 in april do you think they will give me a saturday job?

I think that if you go to a salon/shop and express your strong desire to become one when you grow up, they will probably be happy to have you as un unpaid apprentice for a few years, or a paid hand (wiping up hair) while learning. Then, when you get enough experience, they might be interested in hiring you.I want a job at a hairdressers, im 14, 15 in april do you think they will give me a saturday job?
    If they need the help...

But unlike what the first answerer said, You can't apprentice. You will do the sweeping, and helping out around the salon, But you won't be able to apprentice, initill you are out of school.I want a job at a hairdressers, im 14, 15 in april do you think they will give me a saturday job?
In the US, there are child labor laws that might prohibit it.

Do I own my hairdresser a reason why I am not coming to her anymore?

I have gone to the same gal for many many years. However I recently found a new gal who is 5.00 cheaper. She cuts my hair just as nice and is a tad bit closer. Should I call and let her know I have found someone new? Or should I just let it go? I want to do the right thing.Do I own my hairdresser a reason why I am not coming to her anymore?
Um.............If i were you id just get on with life.

But i don't think ive even had the same hairdresser multiple times so see what other people think:) Do I own my hairdresser a reason why I am not coming to her anymore?
I would say go to her every other haircut, the alternate being the 5.00 cheaper hairdresser.

  • I'm a mobile hairdresser and have a large client base, but I'd like to start working from home.?

I'm having a baby in August and need to keep earning money. I think it would be easier to get my clients to come to me, most have already offered. My problem is i'm not sure on how it effects my house insurance and not sure what other rules and regulations i have to follow.I'm a mobile hairdresser and have a large client base, but I'd like to start working from home.?
You would need to notify your your local council as there are many laws covering salons which, in effect, you will have become.

Also, notify your buildings and contents insurers, as you may invalidate some clauses in your insurance. Your business insurance company will also need to know, particularly for public liability cover.I'm a mobile hairdresser and have a large client base, but I'd like to start working from home.?
As well as your house insurance, you may need to check with your mortgage company or landlord. You'll need separate insurance for your business. Companies like AXA offer a working from home policy (we've used them for business insurance from home and premises).

You'll also need to make sure you comply with Health %26amp; Safety legislation and access for the disabled. None of this is as scary as it sounds. Your best source of advice would be your local Business Link. They'll guide you through any legislation that you need to comply with.

Good luck and congratulations on your baby!
The advice above is valid, there are council tax considerations too. But on the flip side, you would then be able to reclaim a proportion of your electric and other relevant household expenses as an offset to your income on your tax returns.

It's basically the same thing as a normal hairdryer only it comes out differently... otherwise, I'm afraid we need more help in understanding your question.
...I don't understand what you're asking. Try and re-phrase please. Also...best answer? Yeah, 10 points, not 15. I'll check back to see if you've re-phrased the question.
Need a few more clues Lindsey.Bit vague.

It's ten points for best answer by the way.
Er...What? Do you mean the sound of Hairdryer's going?
    sayy what? a wind tunnel?
Do you mean hairdryer??? I don't understand your question.
I'm with Dani I don't understand your question????
be more specific, what do you mean, i don't understand your question?

Should customers be allowed to fire hairdressers...?

Or sue them or something if they completely wreck your hair?

I THINK SO.Should customers be allowed to fire hairdressers...?
sue them for emotional damagesShould customers be allowed to fire hairdressers...?
it should be addressed to the owner or manager of that salon, then they will be the one

to suspend or fire the hairdresser. but if these people mentioned are like trying to

take care of their people/employees, then u should act yourself like get the name and

report to whoever designated people who could help you w/ that matter in protecting

    customer rights...
That's funny, I was thinking the other day and today that it would be funny to work in at a hairdressers and cut a customer's hair like Spock in Star Trek. And who cares, who would want to bother putting so much money into a lawsuit, their hair will grow back out to normal by the time the case is over.
Yes, i thinks so, definitely. The last time i had my hair permed was 15 years ago for my wedding and it was a disaster after a couple of days. My hair was a mass of knots every morning, the perm fell out quickly and it looked like someone had messily layered my hair at the back...that was the rotten way they had cut my hair for the perm.....disgusting. I have not let a hair dresser touch my hair since.
Of course not, it would mean higher prices and even possibly signing a waiver before being tended to.

You take your chances just like any other customer service oriented business.
They should be allowed to pay $10 extra to BITCHSLAP their hairdressers.
no. only if the hairdresser intended anything bad. we are humans. sometimes our work isn't always the best.
You should get the hair cut for free then get free extensions!
You could not go to the hair dresser again.
    No but we can quit
    grow up....

    it's hair,

    you'll live.
no biggie i'll just go all short if that ever happens

What do I need to do to be a hairdresser and own my own salon?

iAm 14 And Have Chosen Hairdressing, Business Studies, And Health And Social Care For My GCSE's.

But iDont Know What iShould Do Once iHave Left School.

Obviously iWill Start As An Apprentice At A Hairdresser, (iWould Like To Work Somewhere Like Tony%26amp;Guy So It Looksz Good On My Record) Then iWould Go On To Be A Hairdresser.

But What Should iDo Before And After That?

Thanks.OxWhat do I need to do to be a hairdresser and own my own salon?
The best thing to do would to start college after school and do a good course, and they always have business studies in with it. At the same time as you course you can get work experience at many diffrent salons and see how you get on. After youve finished your course you could get a part time job and go to a proper beauty school.

Hairdressers: which is harder to bleach out?

    permanent black hair dye

    orrrr

    natural black hair?

thanks! xxHairdressers: which is harder to bleach out?
Hair dye!Hairdressers: which is harder to bleach out?
    BLACK DYED!!

    natural black hair bleaches easier.
permanent black hair as the pigmentation of your natural hair has been aletered to make it black. although if you go to a good salon it is possible to remove any colour with or without bleach depending n what result you are looking for
go to a salon, tinted black is an effing nightmare to remove as when you put the developer on it after stripping, it goes back to black grrrrrrrrrrr x

No ! Takes 2 yrs to qualify, plus another 2 work experience to get really good, on your feet all day, making small talk with people you wouldnt otherwise give the time of day.

  • Hairdressers?! or anyone else too. how do you wash hair.?

what is the best way to shampoo and condition hair?

whenever i have my hair washed by my hairdresser my hair is so soft.

and the way they wash feels so good on my scalp.

how do they do it?Hairdressers?! or anyone else too. how do you wash hair.?
number 1 is a good quality shampoo and conditioner then we shampoo twice then condition ends onlyHairdressers?! or anyone else too. how do you wash hair.?
My hairdresser uses special shampoo and conditioner (I think it's called Design). She also holds her hands kind of stiff (like she's playing the piano) when she shampoos my hair. I always pay a little extra so that she will use a deep conditioner which leaves my hair feeling healthy and soft.
well they put the shampoo in and massage you scalp.

then they wash out the shampoo and repeat just using conditioner
they use warm water and they massage your scalp softly ... love it whem my hair dresser washes my hair ...she goes by this thing that washing your hair should be relaxing .......
Just go to a salon and ask them? Its proally the products they use
    They massage your scalp?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good Auckland hairdresser?

Preferably one in the inner city or the north shore. The salon + hairdresser name would be good. I was thinking Stephen Marr, Ryder or Vada but didn't know which hairdresser to book with...would be so grateful if anyone could offer any recommendations. I usually get my hair cut by Stephanie from Toni %26amp; Guy on Queen St but wanted to try someone else.Does anyone have any recommendations for a good Auckland hairdresser?
Yay someone else from new zealand. Im in chch myself. Anyway, like basically the whole population of yahoo answers is from america. Anyway, Try Rodney wayne.

Hairdressers, I need to know if this is a good idea?

I have mousey brown hair and i want to dye it a cyber purple colour like this http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?categoryParentId=4398%26amp;storeId=10052%26amp;productId=29223%26amp;callingViewName=%26amp;categoryId=4441%26amp;langId=-1%26amp;catalogId=11051

but i aren't sure if this will be a good idea or not, Any ideas??

Thanks :).Hairdressers, I need to know if this is a good idea?
i'm no hairdresser, but i think you should just die it a darker shade of brown (coffee bean brown or something) because as fun as purple is, people wont take you seriously with purple hair...besides, that shade of purple looks a little...emo and it wont look good with a lot of skin tones...try a natural color instead

Hairdressers or people that REALLY know about shampoos....?

i usually use expensive shampoos like Bumble and bumble. so im scared to use a cheap brand on my hair. but i want to find something a little cheaper but still works good and doesnt leave all that ';wax'; crap on your hair such as Pantene does....so is Redken a decent shampoo?? i was thinking about getting the extreme shampoo and conditioner and also the antisnap stuffHairdressers or people that REALLY know about shampoos....?
Oh yeah! My stylist uses bumble and bumble on me and i use redken at home. I used to have the Extreme Rescue Force Deep Conditioner when my hair was really overprocessed and fried and it worked wonders! So im sure the normal shampoo and conditioner will work great! And i use anti snap every time i wash my hair, every other day, and i love it! It makes my hair stronger and gives it some shine when i blow dry and straighten it. And doesnt let it get so damaged from the heat. I put it in my damp hair. Yeah redken rocks! color extend and all soft and even smooth down are great redken products to switch to after extreme makes your hair in better health, which it really should.

Hope this helps! Happy hair! :-)

    Can u help me? :-)

Hairdressers or people that REALLY know about shampoos....?
Check out Wen. It is all natural,no detergents, developed by a hairstylist Chaz Dean to prevent color from fading. I have found that I don't use as much and don't need to wash my hair but 2-3 times per week, I bought 16oz bottle 3 months ago for about $28 dollars and it is half full. It takes the place of leave in conditioner, conditioner and styling cream. Check it out at Wen.com . Redken is good but matrix has a good line too.
im not sure about where you live but over here in Australia redken is a very expensive hair care brand which i use...it think its the best shampoo i have ever tried and trust me ive tried many

i have brittle hair because i style it alot so i used the redken all soft range. the shampoo and conditioner smell divine and the treatment is great aswell and lasts for ages!!

you could try tony and guy they have mad heat protection spray :)

    I LOVE Redken.

It did wonders for my hair.

But yeah definitely stay away from Pantene.

Redken made my hair so healthy and when I was using it it was it's least oily. (I don't use it anymore because of it's expense.)

That said, Redken isn't exactly a cheap brand... well not here.

Question about hair products; hairdressers, beauty experts, help!?

I currently use Biolage shampoo %26amp; conditioner and I love it. I also have taken to straightening my hair with a flat iron.

I work at Bath and Body Works, and we always recommend with our facial products to use products from the same line for best results.

my question is: since I already use Biolage, should I also use Biolage styling products for best results? Or does it make a difference?

Also, I straighten my hair by sectioning it off and mixing serum with mousse to help straighten it. Is there a better way? What products should I use for the best results? My hair is pretty

    average, not course, curly, etc.

Thanks! I welcome responses both from hair expects and from those of you who have used different products and have some advice!Question about hair products; hairdressers, beauty experts, help!?
All the advice I've ever been given is NOT to put serum on before heat-- it's like heating oil in a frypan! The mousse is fine though...

I don't really think you need to use ALL products from the same line- maybe shampoo and conditioner together as they are made to work in sync, but best to just find what works best for your own hair.

Helpful??Question about hair products; hairdressers, beauty experts, help!?
first question, no no difference although the company rep will tell you there is, it all depends on your hair type as long as you use a quality product there is no need to stay with one brand . second question as a trial, put in no product, sectioin and straighten as normal, and then put in a small amount of serum, serum is used to defrizz not straighten, with less product your hair will be less oily and the straighten will last longer (hairdresser with 14 yrs exp)
Honestly, as far as I can tell companies just say to use the same products for best results so people buy more of their products. I've never noticed any improvement at all of the effect of a hair product if I used it w/ other products from the same company.

Also, you might want to try hairspray for straightening, I find it keeps hair straighter WAY longer than mousse or gel! I use Fructis, it's awesome.

  • Do such thing as hairdressers that do what you tell them exist? where?

Maybe it's just me, that i don't know or can't explain properly what i want, but does anyone, who's just had a haircut, ever though 'yes this is exactly right'Do such thing as hairdressers that do what you tell them exist? where?
I have hair and beauty salon and i can understand exactly what you mean , sometimes it`s hard for ppl to explain what they want and sometimes it`s just that the hairdresser doesn`t understand what someone is saying !

My advice to you is to have a look at friends hair , if there hair always looks nice , ask who cuts it .... look around salons ... go for consultations ( they should be free ) and the most important thing FIND PICTURES YOU LIKE ! this really really helps to give a hairdresser a idea of what your looking for , even if the hairdresser thinks the style won`t suit your hair type or your face shape they will be able to adapt some kind of style along the lines of the 1 you like . gl i hope this helpsDo such thing as hairdressers that do what you tell them exist? where?
every time. nicki cuts my hair and she does awesome. I just tell her to make me look hot and every time I walk out, I think...wow I look hot!
definitely NOT in Felixstowe. I have been to more than one salon and asked for shaping and come out with a mullet. I kid you not!!!
I have a hairdresser that comes to my house, she's fantastic, has always done exactly what I've wanted!
yes every time,, i have a shaved head..
i think hairdressers are scary!!! they have the abilty to spoil your life for a few months untill you hair grows back.

or some make you feel stupid when you ask for what you want.

in my life i have only found one hairdresser who does what i want and is very honest with me, but the snag is the salon she works in is very pricey so have'nt been for a while!!!
Yes, but the ones I know are all in Iceland, not sure your'e willing to travel that far for a haircut :)
yes, she's fab but also a very talented musician so pursuing a career in music. haven't found anyone else so i look dreadful these days as haven't had my hair cut for seven months!
I gave up visiting hairdressers. I now cut n colour my own - it looks great too. As for a decent hairdresser - I haven't found one yet that isn't off with the fairies or something!!! Too many times I have come out of the hairdressers only to burst into tears when I get home....
No! they royally butcher my hair every time. I can't even find one that can actually cut hair right and not just pull up hair with out measuring and start chopping. I had a horrible hair cut for the holidays last year, I was hoping this year i would have nice hair. NOT! I've gone two years feeling horrible becuase of my hair. I'm done with hair stylists and salons. That's the only way I will ever have hair on my head that is nice.Last idiot stylist did exactly what I told her not to do,she also started talking on the phone and chopped at my hair at the same time. She left the color on my hair to long and my scalp flaked for a week. The color was also the wrong color. Anyways, I totally agree with you. My advice to you is stop going to salons. I don't know what else would work. Good luck P.S. I've taken pictures with me to the salon,it does not help. My hair looked NOTHING like the picture and about four inches shorter in the length. The layers on the left side were WAY shorter then the right.
Nope, they never cut my hair how I ask. So I bought some clippers and taught myself to cut my own hair. Amazingly easy. I cut it last night. Looks fine.
I asked my mate that question - when you take a picture in - as she is a hairdresser. She said to get the exact hair cut you would have to go to that hairdresser that done it. Also that they adapt the hair cut to suit you. A true hairdresser will tell you if it would suit you. You might want hair like Angelina but you ain't gonna look like her. As my mate says she's got fingers not wands!
yes there are and i experinced it at fe hair studio in camden town london they were so nice and helpfull they made me feel relaxed. i know its difficult to explain but they didnt cut my hair until he was sure i knew what i want. it was amazing am so happy!!!!!!!!!!
I am a hairdresser, i always do what clients ask me to do. This is how you build up your clientel. You just have to search around
my hairdresser does what i tell her. she works as a one person hairdresser. she works for herself. her company's called tilly's hair studio and it's in south woodham-ferrers

I have curly hair. Hairdressers always hint that I should straighten it. Should I?

no it'll end up damaging it and healthy hair is more important than trendy hair. so work with the natural curlI have curly hair. Hairdressers always hint that I should straighten it. Should I?
    only

if you want toI have curly hair. Hairdressers always hint that I should straighten it. Should I?
well it's your choice don't let other people tell you what you should look like coz thats not right
Don't just give in to pressure from the hairdressers. If you want to go straight, a chemical straightening will make it easier to iron and give a longer lasting result, although it won't take away the frizz or natural texture, just loosen the curl. Also, as you must be aware, it is a process that is hard on the hair. It involves breaking the structure of the hair and re-forming it, so your hair will be significantly weaker and require careful handling and lots of conditioning. It does not have to destroy your hair if you are very careful, but I would not advise it if you are not convinced you want it. I had lots of that stuff done, finally cut off all the damage and am now trying to grow out my natural curls, having resolved to never do it again. I liked the smoother style, but it was not possible for me to maintain the care over the long term.

p.s. don't forget hairdressers want to make a living and will recommend expensive treatments that require regular maintenance, it's in their interest! But there are some out there who will encourage your natural look. Try to find one of those.
no i have curly hair and Ive never straightened it cuz I've seen what it can do...horrible mess and your curls I'm sure are beautiful trust me don't screw your hair up
dont know id hav to see a picture of u..strait hair looks good on some girls and so does curly do u got a myspace or somethin?
You should go with what makes you feel good (if you feel good you usually look good).
Maybe just straighten it yourself first with a curling iron and see if you like it.
no you shouln't.you can also be beautifull with curly hair.

i have also curly hair and no problem with it....

    take it easy .
Straight or curly is all up to you. Be yourself. Straightening up your hair won't kill you.. coz it will revert itself after sometime. Straight hair suits certain kind of faces.. but curly always kinda cute to me.. anyway.. experiment... how about cutting short like?
i dont know i like strait

What is the best hairdressers in bromley?

Bromley, Kent? I got to Mastercutter's in Hayes, they have some really talented people there, and it's reasonably priced! I've been going there for years and have had loads of different hairstyles :) If you go, ask for Kelly or Justin, they are awesome x

How do you straightened your hair like the hairdresser does?

When i go to the hairdresser, they straightened your hair so much better then i can ever do alone..has anyone got any ideas to me straightened my hair like the hairdresser?

(i have ghd straighters .................)How do you straightened your hair like the hairdresser does?
What they do different at the hairdresser is that they do it in layers. When I straighten my hair at home, I just grab it all and run it through the straightener. The hairdresser straightens the layers of hair underneath first so when she gets to the top layer, it has straight layers beneath to lay on. That makes it look much straighter. How do you straightened your hair like the hairdresser does?
hair iron, spray and some other stuff. too bad wife isn't here, she's a beautician
ummm try putting some straightening gel/spray on it and get a professional straighten, they cost liek a few hundred dollars (no joke)
Well you would start out by using a good shampoo and conditioner. I would the shampoo and conditioner that they sale at the salon. The let air dry and go find a flat iron that has built in steam burst. Because using a ceramic flat iron that takes way the water and shine.
you gotta get a professional hair straightner, ranging from 250 - 300 dollars. A $75 straightener isn't going to cut it.
I'm gonna assume you have African American hair and so I would suggest a moisturized leave in conditioner after you deep condition your hair under the hood dryer or a plastic cap for about 45 minutes. Don't over weigh your hair with oil, maybe try a dime size of natural olive oil messaged into the hair. Flat ironing the hair gives a smooth sexy finish.
After washing it don't put a lot of products in it, it will weigh it down, put a dime size of leave-in conditioner, and blow dry it really well. Blow dry it the way you want to wear it, so if you want it to all go back don't blow dry it towards your face. Then get a thermal flat iron, with either purple or gold plates, and take 1 inch sections. Take your time it will come out beautiful!
Invest in a good flatiron. Not a cheap $10 one it should cost you at least $30. Then use a good conditioner so that you won't dry your hair out, and while flat ironing don't over heat it but use a straightening ir heat spray so you won't have to do so much work. But if ever in doubt call your salon and ask your beautician. I hope this helps :)

HAIRR(: how do the hairdressers do it!?

my hair is rreally rather curly. Whenever i go to the hairdressers it gets really straight. i straighten it and it goes dead straight then i go out and i'll come back and its not anymore. but when i go to the hairdressers it stays straight! how do i do it like that!HAIRR(: how do the hairdressers do it!?
We have magical powers...hahaha, no really, it is all in putting a straightening cream in the hair and blow drying the hair with a large paddle brush, aiming down from roots to ends, then when the hair is completely dry we section and flatiron from the bottom , up. Each section is sprayed lightly with an iron guard, then pressed with the iron, all in thin sections. If you can book an appointment with your stylist for a blowdry and flatiron lesson.HAIRR(: how do the hairdressers do it!?
It all depends. Blow drying hair before you straighten it definitely helps. A lot of the time it depends on the quality of the straightening iron you are using too! Other then that, maybe the hair dresser is using a certain product. Just ask them, they'll probably tell you what to do and what they think works best for your hair.
possibly a heat protectant? Some of them have a chemical that will keep your hair straight!

    http://www.stuff4beauty.com/catalog.php?鈥?/a>

Scroll down to: Graham Webb Heat Response Soft Finish Spray 6oz

Pretty much any heat protectant would work, but the one above is amazing at keeping your hair straight.

    A question for Professonal Hairdressers?

Ok, I need your opinion on this. The usual saloon I go to have L'Or茅al products only, which is good I guess...and I was wondering if someone could explain me the difference between L'Or茅al's Majirel and Luocolor before I get my hair dyed again =)A question for Professonal Hairdressers?
Professional Hair color , is all good each have draw back and benefit's , I don't like the luocolor i found it to be harsh on the hair . if you can find a salon with goldwell you will be better off, either way it really does not matter what professional line that is used as long as the stylist know how to use it

you have to go to school for the hours that that school requires (every state requires different hours) then you take a state bored exam which consists of a practical portion and a written portion, and if you pass you get your license and you can start working.
you dont need any qualifications, you start off as an apprentice and they teach you

How can I make sure that the hairdresser cuts off the right amount of hair ?

I always TELL them the length I want cut.

Then I show it to them with my fingers.

Then I show it to them on my hair.

But they still cut it too short !

    Example:

In March, I said I wanted an inch off the ends.

So they cut 3 inches off !

    It's really annoying ...

How can I make sure that they cut it to the length I want ?

I've been avoiding having a haircut (because of this) for 5 months now ...How can I make sure that the hairdresser cuts off the right amount of hair ?
Be very specific and then ask to hold the mirror. Never close your eyes and have them turn you to the big mirror often. They will know that you are serious and want it done correctly. It will keep their attention focused on the job at hand - your hair. Good luck. I've faced this so many times. How can I make sure that the hairdresser cuts off the right amount of hair ?
ahahahah dont get pissed i think most people have that problem.. have them take a ruler and measure how much u want off.lol..

UH... Or what i do is - you could ask the lady for a um book with haircuts,,, and show her which on you like best..
Maybe you can tell them that you want your hair trimmed, not cut. You can say you want like 1/2 an inch cut off which to them is more like 1-1.5 inches. Or you can tell the hairdresser that every time you get your hair cut, too much is cut off (in a nice way) and tell them that you want your hair to end up at this length (show them with your hands). I don't know how else you could do to make them get it!
I've had to resort to telling the hairdresser that if they cut it too short then I won't be happy and they won't get paid! It works like a charm.
be picky get a little at a time cut off at a time. don't be afaid to pay a little more for what you like and when you kind a hair dresser you like keep that person
i used to have the same problem. I tell the hairdresser, i only want my ends nipped. I tell her please just a half of an inch. I have never had that problem again. Sometimes they think if they don't cut enough off that they are not giving you your money's worth, that's why sometimes they cut too much. At least, i am guessing that's the reason for the scissor happiness.
if this keeps happening at the same place then i would switch to a new hairdresser...how many times have you been dissatisfied with this particular place? if i were you i wouldn't trust them

Want to know about the sucess of Peter Marks Hairdressers??

want feedback on what people think of the hairdressersWant to know about the sucess of Peter Marks Hairdressers??
awful!!!! I refuse to go there anymore. the only thing that i spend money on in there is products because they are cheaper than most other places. Everything from the minute you walk in the door to the minute you walk out is terrible. The only good experience that i have ever had was in the main one in stephens green shopping centre. the staff are abdly trained, it takes way too long to get anything done, i was always left with a soaking back and ny hair would dry before the hair dresser got to me to cut it and i NEVER got what i asked for and trust me, i would be VERY specific!!! Alot of the time my hair would end up really short because the haridresser couldn't cut in a straight line the first time.Want to know about the sucess of Peter Marks Hairdressers??
    Sure, tell us.

Does your hairdresser always SHAMPOO your hair before a haircut or a blow out?

Just confirming that this new hairdresser I am going to will wash my hair for sure.Does your hairdresser always SHAMPOO your hair before a haircut or a blow out?
Not necessarily - if your hair looks clean and free of products (hairspray, gel, etc), she may not wash it...if you want it washed make sure to ask. But keep in mind that sometimes there is an extra charge.

Good luck.Does your hairdresser always SHAMPOO your hair before a haircut or a blow out?
Yes, they will shampoo and condition your hair before it is cut and blow dried (:
    Yes, always.
    yea they always do

How do you annoy and aggrivate a hairdresser at a hair salon?

Like... annoy her enough to make her really want to lose her temper!?How do you annoy and aggrivate a hairdresser at a hair salon?
Oh thats easy. Just pretend everytime they touch your hair it hurts. Be a big baby everytime scissors ever come near your ear.

This is a lovely mix of my brother and sister from when they were young. I can't guarantee that they wont stick the scissors in your eye though. How do you annoy and aggrivate a hairdresser at a hair salon?
First say that you want a certain style of a hairdo then when she gets everything ready say that tyou change your mind and do it over and over. That'll piss her off.

Or call her a 2 dollar sl*t with some saggy t*tties.
I have a feeling you won't have to try very hard to do this, you must be good at it. Actually, don't do it. If you don't like this hairdresser, go to another salon. It just isn't worth it, and you will be the big emotional loser.
Is she doing your hair at that time? If she is I don't think it would be a good idea to make her angry do you?
Talk about how much your last hairdress did and how much better she was and that you don't think she's doing a good job. Just keep going on and onlike that.
start playing with all her equipment spin in her chair start spraying her products and make up stories about her hair cuts like Mrs.______ is still trying to get over that porcupine haircut you gave her, say it loud enough for customers to hear, talk about her man and how dirty he is and that he smells bad maby he should get that porcupine haircut it would be an improvement slop water from the sink all over the floor spill hair dye on a customers blouse, I guarantee that with that kind of chaos she will not only want to loose her temper she probably will why do you ask????
First of all why? And here is what I would do, ask her who did her hair. Then say omg did you pay someone to design your shop? I would ask for your money back!! And then you can piss her off by saying, did you know those pants or w/e she wearing make your butt look big?!!

    Good Luck!!
why would you want to? grow up
Keep correcting the way she does everything.

My mother was in that line of work all her life, I could always tell when she was getting mad and it almost always happened when some nobody was telling her how to cut, curl, or color hair. You could pop popcorn in the pocket of her shop apron.
    you don't.:)
my friends mom always told me there are two people you should never ever annoy

    1. Your waitress

~she can spit in your food

    2. Your hairdresser

~ she can ';accidentally'; mess up your hair

so i suggest you dont aggrivate her
say somthing about her mother that will work

By the way, I don't think ';affordable'; and ';hairdresser'; should be in the same sentence anymore, haah. I would be $18 just for a ';hairdresser'; to them to buzz my son's hair vs $11 at the barber.

Hopefully someone who lives around here will know who the best colorist is. Thanks. My hairdresser really screwed up my color. Who should I go to to get it fixed?
Go back to where you had it done and demand that they do it again (free of charge). It is the least they can do.

Cheap but good hairdressers in glasgow, and location. also tanning salons?

The cheapest place to get your hair cut is the Central College of Commerce. This is where a lot of the hairdressers are learning their trade anyway. They take more time as their tutor is watching and guiding them. The cost is only a few pounds (compared to what you would pay at a salon). http://www.centralcollege.ac.uk/index.ph鈥?/a>

As for tanning salons, I think they are all pretty much the same wherever you go, although there are so many good fake tans now that are better for your skin too.

ok Pink; I'll give you my input. Actually I would reccommend that you call a hair stylist that can be found in the yellow pages and make and appointment for as soon as possible. The difference between a stylist and someone who cuts hair can vary but for most of the time the hair cut person knows basic hair cutting which is great but if you want a faboulous job I reccommend a hair stylist. Hair stylist make special cuts like thinning out bangs and giving different length layers and razor tips as well. Good Luck Im sure you'll like the results. Just tell the hair stylist how you feal about your hair by being honest with yourself and combining this with what the hair stylist would think is best. This way you get what you want and you will also get to see what interesting cool artwork that a real hairstylist can do.

The hairdresser said the colour would fade by now and it hasnt?

I think i got my hair done sometime in August, non permanent dark brown.. and it has gradually got lighter, however it's now the end of november and the hairdresser said it would have faded by october?

I really want to get blonde highlights, should i not? How can i get the colour out?

I dont know what to do!The hairdresser said the colour would fade by now and it hasnt?
Depending on the condition of your hair, non permanent colors may not fade completely from your hair. However, you probably don't have an obvious line of new growth. You should be able to go and get highlights right on top of that old color. You can however try and fade it out a little more by using dish liquid detergent. You can wash it with a it four or five times in the shower... it will help. But remember, it will dry your hair out somewhat, so be sure to treat it afterwords...

  • Calling all Hairdressers and hair experts!?

Im a busy mum of two and in desperate need of easy to manage hair. At the moment it is blonde, long (halfway down back) and has a feathered / choppy style. I try to wear it straight but my hair is naturally wavy and although it straightens ok, it takes up to half an hour to do which is not practical when i have a baby to get ready too. Im only 25 so i would still like a funky cut. Im open to anything except the cut at the jawline that everyone is having. Thanks!Calling all Hairdressers and hair experts!?
it depends on your hair like how thick it is and how much a wave you have. if its thick dont have the layers cut to short as it will bush out have them probably to the middle of your ear and with the lengh try just below shoulders so you can still tie it up if needed with around your face with the fearthering try just below jaw line xCalling all Hairdressers and hair experts!?
i reckon have it cut to the shoulders, layers and a side fringe, long enough to put behind your ears and then it wouldnt take as long to straighten.
With regards to your straightening irons; you really do get what you pay for. I understand if you have children you may not want to splash out 拢80 or up on a pair of styling irons, but they will make your job faster if you get some excellent ones. GHD are very good, and I recommend them from experience! Very pricey, but they give a very natural look and glide the hair with ease and do not do much damage as they are solid ceramic plates. Also remember to protect your hair with heat protection cream/spray!

    Hope this helps :)
i think you should tidy up the ends chop into the layers without taking them too short and get it really textured so for styling straighten the fringe area and srunch in some product ,curls rock tigi is great and leave it dry naturally.so you will still look funky in half the time
if you get it cut about shoulder length slightly above your shoulders it would be cute and easier to manage or if getting perms doesnt make your hair even curlier it may work

I did have hair down to my waist!!! The hairdresser is only an apprentice, I didn't know this at the time, she has opened her own salon but doesn't let anyone know she is only an apprentice. I've contacted the ACCC, they put me on to Fair Trades. Fair Trades got my money back but that was it. I'm already $100 out of pocket from trying to get it fixed. I have to keep going to another salon as my hair grows!!!

I would write a letter to your local newspaper and let them know what was going on so they could get the news out to the community. No one should have to go what you went through and I would be livid. You need to do something to prevent this from happening to other people.Who do I report a UNQUALIFIED HAIRDRESSER THAT DESTROYED MY HAIR to?
better business bureau but people rarely check them before they get there hair done
Contact the state board of cosmetology in your state. You can find out how to contact them online. It is illegal for anyone to work by themselves in a salon unless they have been licensed for at least a year (at least in this state). She could lose the ability to get a cosmetologist license if what you are saying is true.

It is also illegal for a cosmetologist to practice in an unlicensed facility. Any licensed facility would have been inspected by the state board. If the state board came in and saw someone practicing without a posted license, the salon would be closed. The salon she owns is probably not licensed.

It is also illegal for a cosmetologist to practice without a valid license posted for everyone to see. So don't get your hair cut unless you can see the person's license posted
    Better Business Bureau. Cosmetology Board.
how long is your hair now??? how could she have made it THAT bad that you had to use $100 to fix it?????????? i agree she shouldn't be able to do that and it must be illegal but how could it have been THAT bad??????????????? to stop her from doing it to anyone else, tell all of your family and friends and get them to keep spreading it to their family and friends too. if you hear anyone talking about getting a haircut tell them that they should not go to that hairdresser. just get as many people as you can to know so no one will go to her. then she will not make any money and will be forced to quit her job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol im so mean!
Tell all your friends and relatives. You can also mention it to other people that you see there and mention it to other hairdressers.

What action can I take against hairdresser?

My wife went to a local hairdressers to get her eye lashes tinted and brows waxed. She has had this done many times before but not at this salon. The beuatician burnt above her eye with the wax and she had a reaction to the tinting and her eyes went bloodshot and swollen to the point she looked like she'd been beaten up. She went in to complain and the manager was hardly interested! What action can I take against hairdresser?
actWhat action can I take against hairdresser?
I accidently burnt a client with was that wax too hot. It was only one eyebrow, because of course I realized right away that it was too hot as she screamed. It was a TOTAL accident. I promise you, I felt SOOO bad. To this day, I make 1000% sure the wax is not too hot.

Your wife may have had an allergic reaction to the color used to tint her lashes. Or the product may have gotten in her eyes. Was the stylist sloppy? Or was it an allergic reaction? Those are two very different things. If it was an allergic reaction, and your wife had previously tinted them with out any problems, I would not blame the stylist. But I would find out what particular product it was, so it will not be used again. Also, our body chemistry changes, so from now on, she should have a patch test done first. (a small amount of product applied in an area like the back of the neck to test for an allergy).

If the stylist was sloppy, and let it drip all over, then you may have a case against the stylist. No stylist should be slopping color all over so that it gets in the clients eyes.

Too bad the manager didnt investigate further. That is thier job.
Since you addressed the problem with manager, to no avail, I think you should file a complaint. I am guessing your wife went to a doctor and has notes on treatment. This can be evidence. I hope everything goes well for you and your wife.

Sidenote: Why didn't she go to the same salon to get this done?
okay if shes allergic to the stuff they used thats on her not them. how were they suppose to know?

and as for the burnt. it was an accident. chill buddy. it happens alot with waxing. will it honestly make you feel better to get the lady in trouble with her boss and give her a crappy day?

its not like she purposly burnt you. accidents happen. the best thing to do is forgive her and move on. dont be so selfcentered, no offense.

    just dont go there anymore

How much do you tip your hairdresser?

I'm a server so I am used to tipping 20%. For my cut and color it's about $150 so should I be tipping $30? Thats how much I am tipping now but I have no idea if that is good or not!How much do you tip your hairdresser?
Finding the ideal hairstylist can take years. Once you find yours, you will likely want to show your appreciation.

Generally speaking, the tip should be at least 15%, if you are satisfied with the service and results. If you are thrilled, or if your stylist put extra time and effort into your appointment this time, then you way want to add 20% instead.

Several additional factors may affect the level of tipping in the hair salon.

Not long ago, I published an entire online article on this exact subject. You can click the SOURCE link (below) to read this entire article (free). How much do you tip your hairdresser?
    You're probably tipping about right.

Depending on the type of agreement your hairdresser has with the owner of the shop, she could be making anywhere from about $7.00 an hour to everything over the cost of leasing her station and paying for her supplies. Some hairdressers make VERY good money. My daughter works in a small family type salon and brings home over $4000.00 a month (in our area that's not bad money), but I know others that make more and some that barely make enough to crank up the car to go to work. There are a lot of factors to consider, but an established stylist with a good clientele and a good lease agreement can make as much money as they want to make.
Depends if she has done a good job or not...
    I think 30 is perfect.
I tip approx. $5 on a $15 haircut - but that is so I know they will fit me in when they are busy.

Sorry I couldn't be more help!
WHOA!!! $150???????? Good grief! My hair is at most $60 and If it's 60 I tip $10. Anything lower than $60 gets $5.
I would tip 15%-20% depending on how good she is- so I think you're fine.
Interestingly, I thought my math was wrong, but I compared it and it came out to what you said, $30.

See I know when we were in Turkey(we're military), hair cuts were $5. And I know my husband always told me to tip $1 for every $5 you spend and I'd take me and my daughters to all get cuts at the Turkish beauty shop.

That said, I have stayed with the $1 for every $5 and I did the math and it came out to your $30.

I know it sounds high though for some. Heck spending $150 for a cut and color is high to me!

These days I pay $13 for a cut and I color my own and that costs me $7.
I think 10 bucks is more than enough
    i tip five buckaroos.

at my hair is about 112$

Hey, yeah I have one of those fringes.

I told the hairdresser that I wanted a ';side swept fringe';, and she knew what I meant straight away. It's kind of cut like a long straight fringe, then you push it to the side.

*How* do you tip a hairdresser?

I've read all the articles on tipping hairdressers. The consensus seems to be that you tip about 10% (unless it's the owner of the salon). But what I find hard to know is *how* to do it, and I always feel really awkward and embarrassed about it. Do you give it to them in person? Or do you wait till you get to the desk and pay, and then give the receptionist the tip to pass on? What about the junior who washes your hair? I'd feel really uncomfortable handing money over directly - it feels so old fashioned and patronising. But if I wait till I get to the desk then I feel I can't tip the junior because I usually have no idea what her name is.

If there are any UK hairdressers out there I'd really like to know what you find people usually do. And what they say, if they say anything at all.*How* do you tip a hairdresser?
ive been a junior for 3yrs and people usually give their hairdresser and my tip in at reception, and they put it in a box to pass on.

i do find it patronising when people give you tips in hand, and it seems much more professional to hand it in at the desk when you're paying.

10% is standard, but don't forget the juniors who break their backs for you and get paid the shittest wage!!*How* do you tip a hairdresser?
They are performing a personal service on you, I think you should personally give it to them. They would be very appreciative of you handing it to them ';personally';.
As a hairdresser people tip me in different ways. Most tip me when they are paying. They hand over more cash then is requested and they say, you keep the change. When I was a junior, people would slip 5 bucks or so into my hand all the time secretly. Most tips you give, the employers take anyway... they go straight into the till. They don't let you accept them. So if i were you... hand it to them at the chair secretly. And it doenst have to be big. Even $5 is a nice suprise.
i tend to round up say 拢36 to 拢40 and tell the hairdresser to keep the change. in my salon, the hairdresser will book your next appointment and take payment, making it easier to tip ! I guess the hairdresser thought the same thing you have, so this avoids embarrassment.
    cash
    Hi

I am a hairdresser and love recieving tips, it makes it more worthwhile and it shows that the client really appreciated you. It really doesnt matter how you do it, either in person or to the receptionist. Most salons have seperate piggy banks for their staff so if you said to the girl at the till 'thats for Sharon' then they would put it in Sharon's bank, but by doing that, the hairdresser doesnt know who left them tips, so i prefer getting them directly, because sometimes, a cheeky receptionist may pocket the tips themselves as if nothing happened, so i say direct is best!!

I am self employed now,(mobile stylist) but still receive tips. If my clients bill adds up to say, 拢28 they would usually say 'just keep the two' so most people round it up so they can leave a tip. Be warned though, because some salons are very cheeky and put all the tips into one jar and it gets split evenly at end of week, which sounds fair, but to be honest,, its not really that fair as the people who have earned alot of the tips don't get as much as they deserve and the people who aren't so friendly and tip-worthy recieve alot of tips at end of week when they don't deserve them.

Usually a 拢1-拢2 tip is fair for a stylist and 50p-拢1 is good enough for the assistant (junior).

Have fun next time you visit your salon and give tips directly as the stylist will appreciate it more and its a more personal touch.

    Hope that helped,

I'm not in the UK, but what I do is when my hairdresser is done with my hair, I usually ask how much do I owe her, then determine what I'm going to tip. Actually I usually tip between 5 and 10 dollars. I just open my purse, pull out what I'm going to tip, then place it upon her station table. Then I give her my thanks, and head for the desk.
you can either give it in person, or at the till and just say this is for the 'junior or hair washer' whatever . . . they will be glad of the money and probably won't care how you do it!
Can't say I ever feel the need to tip my barber - their price list is on the wall and that's what I pay them, I would have thought a ladies' hair dresser would already be charging a small fortune so I would feel even less inclined to give them anything extra, it's not like they're going to do a bad job next time if you don't (if they do then complain like stink and never go there again!)
They usually pay bill at counter then put what ever they wish to give the stylist junior monies into their pockets so no nosey people can see what you give
WEll i gues it depends how good they do it, your heart will really decide how much they deserve and well ill just give it to them straight up after i look in the mirror......
I struggle with this one too - especially as I go to Toni and Guy and have different people cutting and colouring my hair. I always leave 10% of the total with the receptionist to be split between them. I always feel awkward handing the tip over directly just in case it isn't enough!
If I give a tip I usually do it in person.

But I don't really know why we should tip the hairdresser. They are just doing their job that they get paid to do - no one comes up to me at work and gives me a tip when I do something for them. We don't tip staff in supermarkets/high street stores etc, or the optician, dentist etc, so why do we tip hairdressers?
Tip the junior and also tip the Senior and tell the Senior you also tipped the junior. It's not old fashioned, keep it up.
I rarely tip. It's patronising and anyhow, I'm not working at the moment.
Tell them not to cross the road when theres a bus approaching.
    3.15 @ kempton
Make sure you have change to recieve and then tell them to keep the change
';Get rid of that crappy mullet/slapper extensions';. lol

When I worked in a salon there used to be boxes by the cash desk in order for you to stick tips in. If you're uncomfortable giving it to them straight, stick it in an envelope. I'd say 10% and a quid for the shampooist.
my barber charges me 9 quid to do my hair, so i let him keep the pound out of a tenner. How good am i haha
I would defo give 10% because they work miracles on my hair. I always make sure that i have enough change/notes (depending on the treatment) and I just say, thanks it looks great here's something for you to get a drink with. Its better to tip awkwardly than not tip at all i feel!
I dont tip a hairdresser. I never have. They are already getting paid... why should i pay them some more?

I suppose my purse strings are a little more tight.
ya give it to them when there down, just say here ya go.
It is not common to give additional tips to hairdressers in here - I usually go to small salons where everything belongs to the hairdresser-owner herself, so.. if I pay her, that should be enough...
Hi i always tip the hairdresser when i go all i do is when i got to the desk to pay say my hair cut cost 拢8.00 i would give the hairdresser a 拢10 note and then before she gives me the change back ill just say, It doesnt matter about the change, or keep the change for doing my hair so lovely. Theres no need to be embarrased just make a conversation out of it. If you intend o n giving a tip just carry change with you so when you pay just say thank you, Then walk away if she calls you back say its fine about the change. The usually know what you mean by this. Most hairdressers do.

If you are too shy you could even post the a letter thanking the hairdresser, make sure you know her name and send her some money or a check. if you really feel guilty from not giving tips
you should not feel embarrassed about giving a tip in person whoever it is will think you're a nice person if you're giving them a tip no matter how much it is its a compliment to them knowing you're happy with the service and if they know you're happy it gives them confidence in what they're doing.
The don't deserve a tip, some of them think they are fashion guru's and the bees, I think they are plonkers. They always overcharge and never take enough off and really not being nasty, most are below average, my bf does a better job, so there's a tip you can give them from me, climb down from up your own **** and do what you are paid for, slave.
Go to Tony n Guy's - you dont have to worry abt tipping anyone!
Some of them have boxes at the till but they have to declare tips in these these for tax - but they are not required to if you give them the tip in their hand.
I give it straight to them- a fiver for the hair stylish and a pound or two to the junior who washed my hair. Juniors get rubbish pay and rely on tips so they dont care how you give it to them- they will appreciate it any way!
you tip them in person about 40%

How do I ask a Hairdresser to make my hair seem less?

Too much hair, want it to seem less, but not cut it all off.

Thanks. How do I ask a Hairdresser to make my hair seem less?
Ask them to thin it out, or take the weight out of it. They'll cut into it, but not make it shorter. That's what i get done cos my hair is so thick and unruly! How do I ask a Hairdresser to make my hair seem less?
You can ask to have it thinned. I have the same problem. They just cut come of your hair shorter than the rest of it so its not all the same length.
