Any hairdressers out there? need some advice!!!?

I am getting married in december, and have just been in to my local hair dresser, they adviced me not to wash my hair for 2 and half days before the wedding, as it means the hair is more workable. This may be true, but yuck, my hair needs washed evry day, as it gets greasy, i don't want greasy hair on my wedding day. What do i do?Any hairdressers out there? need some advice!!!?
It is more workable when it has not been washed that day, but usually it is just don't wash it for a day. My hair would be so nasty after 2 and half days. I'm with you there! I would say to just wash it the day before and not on the day of. They will still be able to work with it just fine. I do a majority of my work with models for fashion, print, tv and bridals, which consist of a lot of up dos, so I know that one day with out washing is just enough. The natural oils from your head will help coat the hair shaft and hold the style in place with less product use. When it is freshly cleaned, it is stripped of all the those natural oil and usually very silky, so it easily slips out of place. Up dos can be achieved on hair that has been washed that day, but it takes a lot more product in the hair and time-not only getting it done, but getting it out! I think that it looks best (especially in photographs) with minimal product use. Hope this helps and congrats!Any hairdressers out there? need some advice!!!?
Um, yes it does make it ';more workable'; (yuck!) but you can let it go only 1, 1 1/2 days before.

And you can rinse it in cool water, just dont use shampoo.

It is true, same as when you get your hair colored, they advise you not to wash it before you come for the appt.
I think 2 days is extreme. I would recommend 1 day. Too much oil can make it limp and work against you. Also, skip the conditioner for the washing before.
True it is more workable but.....it not necessary. They have products of all kinds for this these days. It is called inventions. Do this, have them do a test style a week or two before, wash your hair before you go and see how well it does. If it does well, have clean hair on your wedding. If not just go that day without washing it, not 2 1/2.
I could think of nothing worse then knowing your hair is not clean and greasy on your wedding day!

That's an absurd comment. I am not a hairdresser but I was a bride 10 years ago and I had very clean hair and the hairdressers

had no problem working with my hair.

I would suggest you go and see another hairdresser.

If they are wanting it to be slick back, they could easily work with some type of gel but not greasy, dirty hair.

Your hair goes limp and darkens when it isn't clean.

That's like the make-up artist telling you to keep the lipstick on your face two days before the wedding!

This is your special day and the last thing you would want is for your husband to smell your hair not so clean.

Good luck for December and PLEASE go to another hairdresser!

I would be cancelling them off my christmas card list! : )
You need to not wash it the night before you go in. That is plenty of time. It will still be every bit as workable. They can make it workable with a little of hairspray. Trust me I am a hairdresser and i have a large clientele of updo's. I do all the Brides that come in our Salon to get their hair done and have not had any problems with any not holding or anything. Congrats!!!
