How do I describe what I want to a hairdresser, without sounding retarded?

I want a big sweep fringe, lots of short layers, and i want it my whole head dyed darker.





The last time I asked to get my hair dyed they went through a list of different ways, and I was like... ';um, the last one?';

Always, always, always bring pictures. That way nothing can get lost in translation, the more pics you bring the better and that way you both know the goal you're working towards. Even if you can't find one picture that has everything you want just print out more and pick and choose. Even with the color I would print out a picture that way you won't get lost in all the jargon.How do I describe what I want to a hairdresser, without sounding retarded?
you have to just know what you want (which you seem to have) and don't be wavered by all of their questions or their lists. say it clearly, what you typed in the question doesn't sound bad at all!

if you're not too sure about talking to them, make a rough sketch? if you think that's even worse than just be confident and remember that you are their CUSTOMER and you deserve what you ask for.
