Tips for hairdressers taxes??

I'm a cosmetologist in Nevada. Are there any tips for write offs and deductions? A list of things to do and not do for taxes. I was thinking of using turbo tax, will it be easy to use even though I don't get taxes taken out or get checks from an employer. I'd appreciate all advice! THANKS!Tips for hairdressers taxes??
It sounds like you are self-employed and as such will need to file a Schedule C. Legitimate business expenses can be claimed such as business cards, advertising, supplies, licenses, professional dues and so on. If you went to the same location everyday to work then that would be commuting and you couldn't claim mileage, but if you went from that location to serve people in their homes etc. then you could claim mileage.

I suggest going to a good accountant or a known tax preparation company so someone can guide you through the process.
