How can I explain this to my hairdresser?

My hair's already thinned out by a razor, and I wanna trim the layers

when ever she cuts my hair, (layers) it doesnt look layered..theres only bits sticking out

i dunno how to explain it, but if i say i want it thin on the end and thicker on the top (so when you look you can realize it's layered)

will she make the top too thick? and the end too short?

Or will she understand?

And how's an easier way to explain this to her?How can I explain this to my hairdresser?
if you can find a picture that might help so they understand a little better. if she is still not getting it or if you can't find a pic then i would suggest giving her a visual for example: point to the areas you want thick, thinned, and where you want it layered. How can I explain this to my hairdresser?
that you want a tone of choppy layers on the upper parts of your hair then stop them at the point you want

don't forget to mention choppy

but bring a back up pick just in Case
find a picture on google images that show how you want to have it and show that to her
